I tried out Sport mode for the first time yesterday (1300 miles). I observed a strange rattling sounds right when the clutch engages. I think I might of heard the sound a few times in the past but it was obvious yesterday. So obvious that I decided to record it. Maybe this is a feature of Sport mode - or perhaps amplifying an issue? I was shifting at or just before 5000 rpms. Thoughts? Is this normal?

As an FYI - I am a life long gear shifter. I got my license while driving a manual in 1991. This is my 4th Mustang. I bought my last Mustang new in 2006 and drove it for 17 years. I sold it last month with the original clutch.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

How slowly are you slipping the clutch?

Yeah, that doesn't sound normal. Mine has never sounded like that when shifting. Hard to tell from the video/sound recording if its a grinding or vibration sound. Definitely would take it in and have it documented and looked at.

Do you think that's what it is? I considered it but I can hear it ever so briefly sometimes when I disengage the the clutch as well.

Frankly I am a bit nervous to go back to the dealer. I took in twice for a different sound below (once at 300 miles and again at 750). I complained of a brief chatter every time the clutch is disengaged.

The second visit they had two technicians drive it (17 miles total) and said the sounds are normal.

That sound is captured here but hard to hear unless you use headphones.

Have you tried with/without rev-matching enabled?

Good call.....I've never turned rev-matching off on mine so who knows how it sounds without rev match, lol.

So I just confirmed with dealer that the flange for my DH is JL1Z-7089-B and they have no date for availability. It looks like it comes with bolt and a washer. It fits a lot of Ford vehicles.
