Potential steering issue on a brand new vehicle

Also, on all Ford automobiles and trucks if you sit straight behind the steering wheel, you noticed that the steering wheel is over to the Left and not centered directly in the center of the Seat.
Just a Ford thing I guess.

I had the same issue when I received my vehicle, the steering was off to left but tracked straight.
When I brought in the dealer told me that the steering angle sensor needed to be reset. All good now. I always thought they adjusted the steering with tie rod adjustments. It is bothersome though.
Very interesting. Mine is with the service department right now. They told me there is nothing they can do - they assessed the wheel alignment and said it is correct. I asked them about resetting the steering angle sensor, and they insisted they won't do this unless they detect a wheel alignment problem. :-\

I'm finding this very frustrating TBH. It's not right. I want correct steering alignment. I don't think that's too much to ask for a brand new vehicle.

One thing I might check - which they provided no advice about - is that tyre pressures on the front left/right are the same. I imagine if the pressure is a bit lower on the right, then the car might track slightly to the right. So I might check that myself once I get it back.

If it still isn't properly aligned, I'm not sure what else to do. Maybe take it to another Ford dealership? Or go to a third party mechanic? Not sure...

Inform them that the "steer ahead" is not within spec. If they refuse to fix it, get FoMoCo involved.

Yes tire pressures being off will cause the car to drive a little off. Good news is you can read that in the dash.

They just did a quick check to say it was good and didn't actually go through the full alignment machine setup. Quick check does not check the steer ahead spec. Which is the actual position that the steering wheel sits while the car is tracking in a straight line.

I just want to thank everyone for your advice. I ended up in a bit of an argument with the dealership over this. However, despite them saying they don't re-calibrate the steering without doing the alignment itself... ironically, they ended up doing the alignment (it was within tolerance but still off slightly) and re-centring the steering wheel. Now it feels correct and tracks straight. I don't know why it had to become such a huge argument in the first place. I had to escalate the issue to get it resolved.

They've told me that the steering alignment may drift again due to uneven weight distribution (something about the battery being on one side?) I find it a bit odd. I just said "So, that just means you'll address any alignment drift in each service right?" And they said yes to that.

Overall a strange experience, but at least it's sorted/resolved for now.

Because they didn't want to admit they F'd it up the first time the did the alignment and didn't do it correctly. Alignments don't just "drift". Components wear out, we hit potholes and objects in the road that cause pressed in components and bushings to shift. Those are the only way alignments "drift".

I am glad they got it correct for you. I would be leery about going back to then for anything else at this point though. The whole situation feels a little slimy.

Hey folks, I've noticed something recently that I wanted to ask about - I'm unsure if it's a known issue or if you have any tips/advice.

For context, I took delivery of my MY24.5 Mustang GT convertible a couple of weeks ago. It's just clocked over 1,000KMs, so still very fresh.

But I've recently noticed something odd, and I'm a little unsure if it's just my imagination - but I don't think so. I notice that when the steering wheel is right on centre, the car seems to track ever so slightly to the right. So when I'm driving straight, I need to keep the wheel very slightly tilted left (maybe by less than 5 degrees).

I acknowledge that there's a bit of wobbliness right on centre, but the more I pay attention, the more I'm noticing this slight issue. It's not causing any serious problems but it's annoying me.

I'm wondering if you have any thoughts on this? I'm booked in for a first service in May (I think it's supposed to be a brief 45 minute check-in appointment). I'm planning to raise this issue. I'm wondering if it might be an alignment problem or something. Any thoughts?
I would have the front alignment checked out I know on my 2024 GT I can take my hands off as stern and go straight down the road not a problem.

I would have the front alignment checked out I know on my 2024 GT I can take my hands off as stern and go straight down the road not a problem.
Is it not ridiculous that you have to go through that with a dealership that you just gave over 50,000 dollars to. I agree you that is the most aggravating issue with a new vehicle after purchasing , glad you got it resolved!
