Pairing phone with SYNC?

I did pair Ford Mustang to my phone’s Bluetooth for the radio.
where do I find the prompts to pair sync to my phone?
and what do I use the sync connection for? (I believe it is Sync 4)

Once the phone is connected, both car play and the telephone work. You shouldn't need to do any more other than test it so you know how it works.
