Have a 2024 RTR Spec 2. Does the vehicle have to be stopped to switch modes, or can it be done while the vehicle is in motion? Thank You. VAT "Semper Fi"

on the stock production cars the left side mode switches can be used while the car is moving

when I want to pass someone I will click down 2X before I mash the pedal
I have to ask what mode are you usually in and what does clicking down twice do for you? I have the A10 and I use the toggles to down shift one or two gears, depending upon the situation. You can change modes at anytime but I would much rather downshift if I need to pass quickly. Glenn

see post #5 below your post and above this one.

There are all sorts of ways to get the car to go faster, mash the throttle, down shift it, change driving modes, install a jet engine on the back, put Nitrous on it, etc

You want to make power by torque multiplication, I want to make it by horsepower by manipulating the timing, fuel and transmission shifting tables aka driving mode

there is no wrong way to do it.... well maybe the jet engine is the wrong way....

Correct. If you are going to these lengths you are better served by going with external combustion
actually electric has instantaneous torque so it is better than a jet

some of the fastest "supercars" including GM's E-Ray Vette have electric helper motors.

Both paddles or sport mode will do the job. I haven't decided which I prefer for overtaking yet.

This is quite perplexing to me why someone would use driving mode to get better performance! I was experimenting today and with the A10 if I downshift one gear, and depending upon the gear I drop into, I experience very little lag before the power is applied. If I drop two gears there is no lag and power is applied instantly. I guess everyone has their own preferences. In my car when I change driving modes there is always a delay. YMMV! Glenn

Sport and Track modes are very much more responsive than normal. That's why I'm seeing which I like best. Paddles are probably better in that I can choose the gear I want.
BTW, your toggles are usually called paddles for some reason.
Probably Clarkson started it when he called them flappy paddles. He would have been remembering those joyful times of corporal punishment in his English public school.

I missed that! I would normally state I toggled the paddles but I screwed up. Or damn AI changed what I had written! Glenn

By the way I only drive in Sport or Track mode. I am only in normal mode for startup and change as soon as I am out of the neighborhood. Glenn

If you paddle downshift, you still need to accelerate to pass anyway.

I found that as in many autos, how far down you press down the pedal determines what gear you downshift to. a partial press will drop me to a higher gear than a further pedal push. So I just drop down the pedal in proportion to what gear I want to shift down to. In this car, just 1/2 to 3/4 press is plenty for get up and go.

I’m still shy of full break-in, so I have yet to mash the pedal.
