A thread full of people arguing black is white over something incredibly personal - car colour

You are all wrong, and right, because one persons fabulous bright yellow is another person worst nightmare.

A Mustang doesn't need to be lurid to stand out. I daily drive mine, I don't want to have to wear sunglasses all the time!

Ford could go down the Porsche route and offer pretty much any colour you want, but then you would all be moaning it is too expensive!

Here are the side-by-side pictures directly from their website. Unretouched aside from resizing.

The 2024 Yellow Splash is far more "Intense" than the 2025 Intense Lime Yellow Metallic. I agree that there are way, WAY too few bright colors available for this car. It's a performance vehicle. It should shout "Look at me!". The vast majority of the colors we're left with are dull, family sedan hues. (I love the Race Red, but I've had it on my last two Mustangs going back 15 years. I'm getting tired of it. And I just can't like the Grabber Blue, as hard as I try. Too much of a baby blue, or as someone else put it "gender reveal blue").

I'm rather miffed with Ford right now. I ordered my 2024 Yellow Splash convertible at the end of July. I've gotten several of the once-every-45-days notices that they're still trying to work up an assembly date for it. I've also been told that despite no outright declaration that they're cancelling my order (it still shows "good" in their system to this day), they aren't making any more 2024's. And folks who ordered 2025's a month or two after me are already driving their cars around.

So my dealer called me in to re-order it as a 2025. $4000 extra with fewer options, and I can't even get my color. I have to get black (I swore I'd never own another black car!) and have it wrapped a respectable performance car color. Another $3000-$4000. (Not to mention I already purchased several aftermarket add-ons with the yellow in mind).

Thanks, Ford. (I don't suppose anyone has insight into this sort of situation... is it even slightly possible I can still get my Yellow Splash in any year? Do I have any recourse, or am I totally out of luck?)

Anyway, rant over. Enjoy the side-by-sides. Bright, sunny convertible yellow vs. drab, dingy used diaper yellow. It's a travesty if you ask me.

Check the dealer inventory. There should be some yellow on the lots.

Checked and re-checked the world over. My combination of a mostly-loaded convertible with manual transmission is nigh impossible to find in any color. The closest thing I found was in Canada - I personally spoke with the dealer up there and he said he couldn't sell across the border as much as he'd love to.

This is my retirement gift to myself, probably the last vehicle I'll ever own and I want it just so. I have no problem waiting for what I want, and have dozens of little appearance mods already in the works. I'm just peeved that Ford took away so many good colors while hardly adding anything new. Yes, they've slowly introduced a couple more, but mostly only available if you buy certain packages. And none of the new ones (IMHO) are what I would consider to be "exciting" colors worthy of an exciting vehicle. Like I said... mostly humdrum family sedan offerings. I'm not quite sure what niche "Intense Lime Yellow Metallic" is supposed to fit into though. Some "cutesy" econobox subcompact maybe?

My guess is it’s a tribute to this color from 1974…

This color may not do it for me.
but,
You have the right idea.
Ford definitely needs to get some colors that will POP and maybe they will sell more Mustangs .
Individuals are getting tired of some of the current Colors!
If you know what I mean?
I totally agree with you. Personally I am so tired of the whites, blacks, silvers, grays and reds. Just look in a parking lot. Furthermore there is a gray out there that looks like the gray paint used on a garage floor, YUCK! At least in the 70's you could get colors that weren't "standard". Color that would make you stand out of the crowd.

My 2024 is yellow splash, a color discontinued for the 25. I can tell you that I don't go unnoticed and I only get good feedback on it. Everyone loves it.

So I guess it's time to add more colors, but don't add colors that looks like bb pooh or vomit like some of the colors out there. Come on Ford you can do it.
