H-pipe resonator delete - who has done it?

So with just under 3k miles on the clock, i broke down and did the resonator delete. The stock dark horse exhaust was great. I enjoyed the tone, but it was quite a bit muted. Like the sound was there, but being held back. That all changed after the resonator delete!

This thing sounds like a proper muscle car now. Not insanely ear piercing like long tube headers, but deep and low and unrestricted. The best way I can explain the stock exhaust is like someone holding their hand over your mouth... just listening to it idle now, it sounds 'open'

As far as volume... well, that's the beauty of the active exhaust. I will agree with what everyone else said.. it moves the volume one step up between normal > sport > track. Quiet is still like a whisper, which is great when needed.. Normal sounds great and it does mute it quite a bit over 40% throttle - which is nice. Sport only starts closing around full throttle to keep the rasp out, and track.. is .. well.. track... loud, in your face, unrestricted and beastly!

Anyway, just wanted to put my 2¢ in since i was the one that created this thread... if you are on the fence about getting it done... do it! you absolutely wont regret it! I understand now why they put the resonator - it makes it 'people friendly' but if you are a true enthusiast that enjoys your driving experience, this is absolutely the way to go. Not too little, not too much.

And if the day comes you want to return it to stock - save it and have it welded back on!

Ill try to get some videos, but you really have to hear one in person. none of the videos ive ever heard have done it justice.. especially seeing as how the dark horse definitely seems to have a lot louder mufflers than the GT.

I have Steeda's. It's just as quiet in quiet mode as before, cold starts are a bit louder no matter what. Normal sounds like Sport, Sport sounds like Track, and Track sounds a step louder.

I have the Steeda H Res Delete under mine. It definitely makes it louder, maybe something like 25%? Since I live in a residential area, I have cold start disabled and the car normally runs in quiet mode. Perfectly fine!

As my favorite I have the exhaust mode normal for when I am cruising, etc. I do love the deep sound of the h pipe.

I have one on mine, but I've never once had a concern about "too loud" being a car enthusiast.

Apologies for the video quality.......this is H pipe with hotdogs resonator delete - 3rd to 4th (tremic) dead shift at 7000rpm in Track Mode around the 150km/h mark.......the phone microphone didn't appreciate the pop on gear change. I really do like the deeper and crisper tone, and not raspy at high revs. As a comparison, the car behind is a VF Holden SS 6litre auto (or for you American folks a Chevy SS), and the DH drowns it out.

Adding the H pipe really does bring the car to life......and now in Australia along with red light and speed camera's at intersections, they now want to introduce db readers as well.

The next video is the first cold start and idle in Sport Mode after the delete....we were talking in the video but totally inaudible........it is most definitely louder now, but not offensive - to me anyway

Thank you so much for sharing the videos! i havent had a chance to hear mine under load from the outside. I hope to get some videos soon.

That being said - as i was the original author of this post.. i made a short video from about 30 feet away showing off mine. Quiet, Normal and track to 5k rpm. I didnt do sport mode because its essentially the same as track, except it closes the valves slightly at full throttle.

Super happy with how it sounds, not that the stock exhaust doesnt sound fantastic as well, this definitely gives some more volume and bass.
