A more accurate measurement would be the WHP reading.
That said, I’m pretty sure there’s no ā€œford performanceā€ tune for the S650s. Are you referring to the Whipple Stage 1 calibration?

Ah. Every dollar spent on an EcoBoost is a dollar that should be spent on a better car.
A base model BMW would fare better
I'm happy to disagree, as I really wouldn't want a base model BMW, and in a smiles per mile contest the EcoBoost's main problem is that the GT exists. :)

As for the Ford Performance Tune, going from 315hp, 350lbf ft to 350, 400lbf ft is going to help but probably not so much. With perfect runs we could calculate the expected improvements but traction is going to be the same. I suspect the 30-50/70/90 times are noticeably quicker...

Not true at all. i have 24 gt now and i had 24eco with ford performance tune. And i can tell you until 60mph eco with the tune felt almost as fast as gt, after that it dropped significantly but that boost and tune and almost the same torque felt very very fast around the town. Highway speeds are different story but i drove 95% time in the city and it was a blast

I really enjoyed the GT, but as you say, in the city it doesn't feel much different by the numbers. It sounds different, for sure. I'd suppose that traction is an issue under ~30mph, depending on the road, weather, and tires. Over ~60mph the GT felt like it walked all over the EcoBoost... In that middle bit, the GT should be quicker but with the automatic, it felt busier...

...back t o the 0-60mph time, with my schoolboy physics, the extra power should make it about half a second quicker to 60mph. Assuming the EcoBoost is 5.1s to 60, that puts the Ford Performance Recalibrated version at 4.6s... under ideal conditions.

Its very hard to get accurate times, i had 275/40 19 ultra high performance summer tires and with the tune it would lose traction immediately. I tried couple of times and would get lots of tire spin, so i just gave up

Too much variance? I enjoy the Mustang's point and squirt acceleration in the city, but I also enjoy its ability to effortlessly climb hills and maintain speed on a twisty, hilly road, without shifting down... in-gear acceleration feels usefully strong to pass slower traffic if I need to...

I'd happily take the 300lb weight savings and go autocrossing.
And would still lose to every car in the class

And you would still get less MPG than any other turbo 4

Such a worthless comment from you.
Not really, just pointing out the fact that spending money on a car that shouldn’t exist in the first place is a poor idea. You could’ve instead A. Bought a better car. B. Spent money on a different car for better results

Or they can buy the car they want to buy.

OP, the Ecoboost Mustang is a great car and with that Ford performance calibration will have almost as much torque as the GT and handles really well. There are a lot of idiots in the world so ignore them. I've driven both extensively. They both have their strengths and flaws.
