The anti-lag technology in the 2026 Mustang EcoBoost RTR relies exclusively on software calibration and electronic management rather than unique turbocharger hardware. [1]
How Ford's Anti-Lag Works
• Electronic control: When you lift your foot off the accelerator, the engine management system cuts fuel delivery while keeping the throttle plate open momentarily.
• Airflow maintenance: This action allows air to continue flowing through the engine cylinders and spinning the twin-scroll turbocharger wheel.
• Boost readiness: Because the turbocharger keeps spinning at speed, boost pressure is instantly available the moment you press the gas pedal again.
• No traditional combustion tricks: Unlike wild rally-style anti-lag systems that dump extra fuel and spark into the hot exhaust manifold to spit flames, Ford's patented setup avoids destructive raw fuel combustion to protect components and manage emissions. [4, 5]
While the anti-lag feature itself is a software-driven engine calibration, the Mustang RTR Package does add physical hardware enhancements to the car—such as a heavy-duty 600-watt cooling fan borrowed from the V8 Mustang GT to handle high-load track driving, Dark Horse suspension components, and massive Brembo brakes. [6]
Also comes with active exhaust
And i added magneride.
Would you like to know more about the suspension and chassis hardware added by the RTR package, or details on the optional dealer-installed Ford Performance tune available for it?
