My only question would be... When will auto makers and pols alike, realize that EVs had a rather limited market (Opine: no more than 10%, and perhaps half that)? If Ford would have divided their resources similarly, they (et. al.) wouldn't be in the financial position they find themselves in (political pressure notwithstanding).
Your estimate doesn't fit with reality. Plenty of places well in excess of that now both in terms of vehicles on the road and vehicle sales (EV). US is very much behind compared to the rest of the world in adoption, but then even parts of the US are ahead of others.

There were 88 million cars sold in the world last year of which 17 million were EV - that's 20% of sales and rising. No wonder car makers are investing in EVs - they do realise where they need to invest very clearly.

In other words, if we take these sales and add those sales we get a combined (hybrid-erev) market?

Really?

Where is your evidence to support that statement?

I know a lot of people who love their EVs but you need real evidence to state something like that.

20% of global sales (17 million cars) were EV last year - you are saying they all hate them?

I know a few people that do. I’ll be burning gas in my V8 and V12 for as long as I possibly can. 😀

He said "most people", not "all people".

And the evidence, according to your post, is that 20% of sales are EV, meaning 80% are not.

All you need to know about what’s coming

That's not what that means.

Just means they like him.

They also moved someone that used to be in charge of ice engines to the model e division. Doesn't mean model e is going ice lol

People move departments all the time and there is no big meaning behind it.

Nothing wrong with an EV; if it fits and serves the need of a particular individual, family, company, etc. Choice is good.

To me; the real issue/problem is when governments attempt to tempt/force/coerce people/families/companies into buying an EV via any method of government doomsaying, mandates, and/or market manipulation via tactics to make other kinds of vehicles less financially viable via raising their purchasing and/or operating costs.

Choice is good.

OK, 17 million people is quite a few! I was asking whether all those 17 million people hated their cars - not the same thing

20% and rising strongly. Direction of travel is clear.

What is it about people in the US and their government paranoia?

Market manipulation is and always will go on. Why are cigarettes so expensive? Why was leaded fuel banned, Why was DDT banned? Why do some countries have a 'sugar' tax?

But also slowing strongly. Does that mean saturation is near? No one knows.
Is it?

Global electric vehicle sales up 25% in record 2024 | Reuters

Electric Vehicles - Worldwide | Statista Market Forecast

Of course the rate of growth will slow as it represents more of the market. Nowhere near saturation that is for certain.

There are huge variations between countries and regions in terms of what is happening but as a global product growth is strong.
