Dealer must have allocation or it won’t get built. And that’ for all vehicles, including regular Mustangs. I don’t think most dealers explain allocations to their customers as they don’t want the customer to go somewhere else.
It took almost a year for the dealer to get the allocation. Dealer took the order and submitted it without an allocation.
If you don’t get a priority 19 or LOWER you don’t have a car. Now you can start out higher and the dealer gets one from their rep as the year goes on. I’m certain this is what happened.

Not unless the same owner has multiple Ford franchises.
Not always. My local Ford dealer in NY was going to get a DH (with color and spec) for me in Pa. They were going to seap future allocation. They wanted me to pay 2k markup plus transport.

Right and you would be waiting a year like OP when the NY dealer finally got an allocation.
Allocation is earned on your previous and current sales. Sometimes deals can be worked if you buy truck loads of F150s or take some dog shit Mach E’s you MAY be able to have your rep pull a string to award you an allocation.
Dark Horse allocations aren’t dealer traded or swapped that’s BS. They were lying to you to take you out to the market (you order from them) till they can produce a car whenever that is and rape you on it. I know exactly what your dealer was doing.
My credentials:
20 years car business
7 years at a Ford dealer
Father retired from Ford
Mother Ford management
Father-in-law retired from Ford

So what was the dealer doing, I really would like to know. I wanted a DH in molten and manual. The close was in Pennsylvania. Dealer said he can get me that for 2K markup plus I pay for transport. He also said they are trading allocations.

I also went to check out a Civic Type R. Dealer didnt have any on the lot that was red. Butbhe said he can get me one. I checked the interwebz and nearest one was in Connecticut. He wanted me to put a down payment on it. He also mentioned he can swap CTR. Something was fishy.

What scan where does dealers pulling on me? I really want to know

Scam? I don’t if it is exactly a scam. The long and short of it he was going to lock you into an order and if/when the car ever got built sell it to you at 2k over MSRP. If they got an allocation in 6 mos-12mos they will be delivering you a car in 9-14mos, maybe it rolls over to new model year they don’t care.

Dealers don’t swap/dealer trade allocations that is not how it works. They swap/dealer trade inventory.

It's been a long wait and was about to give up on Ford ever building my car, but it looks like I am finally getting my baby! So exciting!

I know you don't want to hear this but it just takes Ford a long time to build a Mustang GT once they receive the order.

Mine, less than a month old, took from the middle of February to the middle of May for it to be delived to me. Three months of patience and getting more involved in other things you like makes the time pass more quickly. That worked on the other two I've had.

Glad to hear another person bought one of the best "fasty" cars made in any kind of decent volume anymore. I suspect Stellantis and GM will regret dropping their previous competitors. I hear Stellantis is working on something else fast but who would want to own a car built by an Italian owned company? Italy, like England has yet to build a good reliable car.

Patience is a virtue......I say to hell with patience, I want stuff NOW!

From what I was told by my dealer (taken with a grain of salt) is that they were only getting one Dark Horse allocation for the year. That is why I was there with a deposit when 2025 order banks opened up last July. I wanted to be "first in line...." Of course knowing that the car wasn't going to get built over the winter because of the performance package, my one worry was that they would sell it to someone else who could get a quicker build. It may be stupid, but I feel kinda "lucky" knowing my car is actually going to get built.

My dealer said they had allocation of one when I put a deposit mid feb. Crickets but that’s okay, I am sure it will arrive at some point and compared to a lot of folks it seems the three months or so I have been waiting is par for the course. For context DH, also molten and manual, no PP.

I was in a big hurry to order my 60th on the day they opened the order forms. It is being built in two weeks. The longest I have ever had on an order. But, I have to feel sorry for my dealer. They received a 24 DH right about when they ordered mine, and have still not sold it yet. It's a great looking and well equipped unit, but I can't run track anymore. On a positive note, I was at Ozark International Raceway over the weekend and was talking to a gal who totaled her S650 last month. She did not seem much the worse for the accident. Said she was doing about 80 when it happened and apparently passed out and hit the accelerator. It was estimated she was doing over 100 when she went airborne. Her guy at the bodyshop that looked over the wreck, said that she would not survived in another car, the S650 was so well built. Something I hope to never prove personally.

Two things....someone asked about a small town. I live in the biggest city in my state and ordered my Mustang from a small dealer 38 miles away because I knew I could negotiate better with them and they aren't idiots. My car came in, in three months.

Concerning Mustang's being well built, someone caused me to hit a barrier wall head on at 65 mph in another GT I owned. It was naturally totaled and I just got out with my cell phone and called 911. Not a scratch or bruise on me. Everything under the hood but the engine block went flying all over three lanes in Nashville. It stopped the whole interstate until they could clean it all up. I think they're safely built but I don't want to go through that again. :)

Actually it takes Ford “approximately“ 2 days to build a Mustang.
