Cool and wow factor. I love the GTD, a lot of people here do as well, but it's also pretty clear there's a audience of wealthy enthusiasts, who are buying a lot of things like c8s, and printing GM billions of dollars in the process.

For a lot of people in that crowd, they want an exotic 6 figure supercar to look like an exotic. The GTD looks amazing, but it does just look like a mustang to most people. A lot of people want those exotic mid-engine proportions to go along with the supercar performance.

Here's the issue, developing a mid-engine platform would be quite expensive, and that could be an issue. Which is why personally, I'd love to see a modular style approach taken to a new Ford mid-engine platform. Think about this, we live in a world where modern car platforms are super flexible, one platform is used on the focus, escape, transit, Maverick, bronco sport, overseas Tarus/modeo which still exists, and Lincoln sedans and crossovers.

If one platform can underpin everything from trucks, cars, vans and crossovers, I don't believe it's a stretch to propose a shared platform for different kinds of supercars. This way, Ford could get more traction out of it, instead of just one type of supercar, they could do 2-3 off one platform.

My wishlist would be a new RS 200, that new off-road style supercar Ford's CEO keeps talking about. Use the upcoming hybrid 2.3 and offer something small that puts out like 400-450 hp with a starting price of like 70 grand. A c8 rival that does something very different to differentiate itself. Plus you're chasing a very different market than mustang buyers so you aren't stepping on the toes of the mustang like the c8 did with the Camaro to an extent.

Then, mid-tier, a V8 mid-engine mustang that maybe starts with a 5.0 option, with like a 100k starting price. Do what the c8 did but even better. A better looking car than the c8, blend mustang styling cues with like the proportions of an '05 Ford GT. A supercar with a longer nose to tie into the mustang heritage. Give it a manual for extra appeal over the c8.

Finally, top dog, using the platform to make a new Ford gt to tie into the new top class le mans prototype they're gonna do, and the F1 partnership with hybrid stuff. A hybridized predator pushing well over 1,000 hp, and maybe Ford could use that engine on a future gt 500. Give this new gt Valkyrie style underbody aero, that radical aero design.

3 cars, one platform, billions of dollars in revenue and potential profit, while making Ford even more desirable as a brand.

So it seems like a 1,000 plus HP is likely. One of the prototypes was spotted with the hood vents removed so you can see the top of the engine, and keen eyed viewers said it had a whipple supercharger. This news is making the rounds now.

So even more downforce, more power, and likely less weight according to their CEO. Good Lord this thing is gonna be a weapon.

I don't disagree. But personally I'd want to do long road trips in an exotic car, which means my wife comes along too, which means I need luggage space. Lots of it for maintenance items, and then space for clothes. I still can't believe we did our honeymoon road trip in an MX5.
So I'd have to be wealthy enough to have a private plane and pilot to make sure all that stuff is at each destination.
Or buy a front engine exotic = GTD?

To be fair, if you have enough money to buy an exotic, there's nothing stopping you from buying an expedition ot truck so you have plenty of space, and then just towing a sports car on a trailer behind you for once you get to your destination.

So I saw a lot of speculation about using a Whipple this time with more horsepower.

I have not seen any updates.

Does anybody know anything more, like, for instance, did they drop their time down?
