Does anyone know if the effects of a) factory reset via menu are the same as when b) unplugging the battery for half an hour or so?

Will there be any settings kept in case a) vs b)?

Factory reset will lose all settings, remove vehicle from Ford app, unpair the phone and erase all programed radio stations.

Battery disconnect may remove some minor settings like mycolor, but almost everything will stay as it is.

What is the issue? What are you trying to accomplish?

Since this morning, audio is turned off and wouldn't turn on.
- Button on homescreen: visibly recognizes touch, but nothing happens
- Button on volume knob: nothing happens
- voice control: not even the audible feedback to begin saying something
- sound settings button in menu is greyed-out
- Android Auto is working, but no sound from mobile phone can be heard
- Bluetooth music also not audible

I did a Sync reboot (skip+volume down button 5 sec) and stopped, parked and restarted like 5 times during the day.

Ouch. Do you have FORScan or any kind of code reader? If not and your car is connected to the Ford app, message me the VIN so I can pull the codes it is reporting to the cloud.

Thanks, man, just DMed my VIN.
Would need to get another Forscan license, so bit of work, but definitely doable :)

So if it's more of a hassle for you than for me, I'm not disappointed if you wait for me pulling error codes

Got your message, but responding here for the sake of the info being out there. As of today, your car started reporting some ACM codes that are 100% related to your issue. It looks like the ACM took a sh*t.

I am also seeing a config related code in the ACM and IPC. I assume you made some FORScan changes at some point that are causing those codes? I don't think that's the reason the ACM crapped out on you.....just an observation.

Last time I changed something in Forscan was about half a year ago and had no issues since and no error messages when I checked a few days later.
No unknown changes and no issues reported by others.

Guess I'll erase codes and make a battery disconnect first.

The battery pull won't hurt to try. Disconnect the negative cable and leave it unplug for 20 minutes to make sure everything de-energizes and rully resets. If the issue remains, then the ACM is bad.

So, I finally found time to unplug the battery minus for like 40 Minutes.
I also checked the voltage when unplugged and it was 12.56 V, which after some research seems to be an average to good value.

After reconnect, everything works just fine, only MyColor was reset as you mentioned, but other than that, all seems as was (don't know about automatic transmission strategy though).

I also deleted the DTCs and they didn't come back after driving back and forth with some steering action in the large parking building.

Except one code always comes back:

IPC module:
P160B:00 Generator Mismatch with Vehicle Configuration: No Sub Type Information

CA: INVALID DATA RECEIVED - INVALID/INCOMPATIBLE CONFIGURATION (Instrumentation, Message Center and Warning Chimes)

Might that have something to do with turning off all chimes, seat belt and speed limit warnings etc. via Forscan, or would you assume that's actually hinting to a control module (not ACM, but IPC?)?

EDIT:
Officer google spits out some connections to the chime subject, so I guess I'll go and restore the related lines I changed 1.5 years ago ...
But tbh, I might have for unknown reason overlooked that DTC in the past in case these old modifications actually triggered the DTC.

Will also soon get an appointment for the water intrusion recall, although my car is exposed to rain very rarely.

If there's one thing I've learned: Codes are not problems.........only problems are problems. Both my vehicles have codes they are reporting due to modifications I did. I just ignore them because I am getting the desired results I want. As long as I have no lights on the dash, these soft codes in the background don't bother me.

Thanks, I might just temporarily try to get rid of the code when I get to the dealer for the recall and report that ACM hickup, hoping it will count in case it really dies right after warranty period is over, which is end of August in my case.
