My Doberman loves to ride in my convertible, but I want to make sure she stays put!

How are you all seat belting in your fur kids?

I purchased a strap from Petzana that has a clip that connects into the seatbelt buckle. The other end has a clip that attaches to the collar. It keeps my Pomsky in the car with me. She loves to ride with the top down. I usually clip her on the passenger side of the car.

I have a Dark Horse and it surprises people when they see my big male European Doberman sitting in the back seats looking out at them. He loves car rides. I before took a seatbelt clasp from the wreckers then attached a leash to it that was a long enough for him to look out but not fall out. Then just click it in the seat belt slot.

My girl prefers the front seat. I am thinking about a harness that the actual seat belt passes through. Keeping her in the car is one goal, keeping her safe in an accident is another.

See how her leash go right where you could clip into the seat belt or for stopping her from hitting the dash get a harness and secure the same way. Just my opinion. It's different from my situation. That looks like a bundle of love. Beautiful.

I think the fitment would be good because those coupe seats can fold down, giving one access to the back of the seat. Even though that looks great, personally, I would pass on that option. Old towels and a blanket have worked fine for me so far.

I started with towels and blankets but ran into a couple of problems. One is that the wind can carry them away with the top down, the other is that my Doberman had a slick coat and she (and the towel) kept sliding off the leather seats. The seat with the bolster gives her but something to sit into, and protects the seat. It also has a loop with a pvc piece that slides between the bottom and back of the seat to keep it on the seat better than just a strap. I pretty pleased with how it works.

One of my bigger concerns is that she is 75 pounds, so she turns on the airbags. I want to keep her back in the seat.

I am thinking about one of these:

Been a dog owner most of my life. Due to our (wife and I) very busy schedules we have chosen to wait until to our schedules slow down a bit before becoming doggy parents again.

My reason for posting in this thread. Over the years I've witnessed many a dog owner allow their pets to go on a ride-a-long with zero safety measures in place.

A big round of applause to all the responsible dog/pet owners in this thread!!!!!

Update: First of all, we had a 70 degree day here in Georgia in December which was AMAZING. It gave me a chance to test out a new harness for my dog. This thing is stout. It is not a walking around harness, it is a seatbelt for your dog. It transfers the force of a stop to their chest and the car's real seatbelt loops through the back. It took her about 2 minutes to get used to and eventually she felt comfortable enough to lay down with it on. For a big dog, I highly recommend.
