You're quite incorrect.

While there are hard core horologists into Rolex, a fair number are first time buyers. I own one and the watch I wore before mine was a Fossil.

There isn't some magical cabal keeping Rolex quantities down and prices high, it's Rolex can only produce so many and people do cash out 401(k)s to buy one.

So how is it that third party sellers have new Rolexes for sale and stores have 2 year waits? I've been tracking the luxury watch market for 15+ years. Owned and sold many of them myself. So I think I know.

Some dealerships saw what was happening and did the same model with Raptor Rs.

No conspiracy. It is all taking place in the open.

Rolex and Ford would be re-tooling their factories in a heart beat to meet demand if it worked the way you think it does. Just my .02

I've been looking for a new car for some time, roughly in the price range of the DH and honestly it really is a sweet spot car in general.

I do not care for a flashy car or prestigious badge. My priorities are driving experience (manual is an absolute must), looks, performance, comfort, then sound, in that rough order.

That said I have always wanted a 981 Cayman S/GTS or a C7 Grand Sport/Z06, and I actually like the new Nissan Z. The other benefit of the DH (which some might feel is a downside) is that it is "only" a Mustang. If anything, something that does not attract as much attention to the average person is a plus to me as this is going to be my only vehicle.
The DH has been great for me. Being a manual is what sold it to me also. That being said several car people recognized exactly what it was the first time I drove it to work. Also see other thread about DH being road rage bait. You will get people trying to mess with sooner or later. Just ignore them.

I don't get the "luxury" thing. Apart from impressing people you don't care about.
I'd never buy a Rolex, I prefer the look of Rado. I'd never buy a Rolls or Bentley. Same with clothes, appliances etc.
I would buy an Impractical iconic Italian or German car brand. I have bought Bugatti jeans (nothing to do with the car) for slightly silly money because I felt like a splurge.
Enter the Mustang, but that has turned out way better than I expected.
I like quality, but usually only at a price that makes sense. My Dad's DNA showing up.
Not to say people shouldn't do whatever they want with their money though.

I agree. This over MSRP behavior has turned some brands into the "bro" brand. Also has created a "safety" issue wearing the watches around the wrong crowd. Go to the watch boards and you'll see posts about it. It's why I wear Omega... thus my name OmegaDH. I recently gifted my son a Dark Side of The Moon. Going on 15 years of solid time tracking without needing one service.

I've heard about that. It's a wonder Rolex don't offer a watch/CCW bundle.
