Hey all

I'm guessing there are more than a few classic rock people involved in this community. Well the other day I was driving the Stang and I Bluetoothed a playlist off YouTube. I am normally playing Acca Dacca and the like. Anyway this song came on after the one I originally played first up. I had never heard of him. Doug Varty (Canadian apparently). The song was Keep The Dream Alive. Good title I thought...Ford still offering a rwd V8. The female passenger said to play it again so I did.

We played it three times...it was pumping thru the speakers...I drove a bit faster...hard not to. We were on a back country lane so no danger to anyone but ourselves. It made you feel good...

Anyway I'm sure others have their favourite driving songs?

Cheers
Mick

OMG! You will probably regret posting that...................................I'm a HUGE Kylie fan! In fact, I wrote a goodby love note to my old S550 with a very obvious theme............................

Love At First Sight – A Man and His Red Mustang | 2015+ S550 Mustang Forum (GT, EcoBoost, GT350, GT500, Bullitt, Mach 1) - Mustang6G.com

So on that note, there are a few that are on high rotation. This was the first song I played through the Mustang's B&O sound system.............................

This one seems to be very appropriate when driving a high-performance car, there always seems to be someone in the way............................

All this version is my favorite for the THUMP THUMP................................

But its been Jessie Ware of late that has had my attention. She has such a rich voice, but its the instrumental beat that hooks me. Modern disco is how you would describe it.

(1) Jessie Ware - YouTube

If this doesn't get you moving, there is something wrong with you. Camp as hell and a LOT of inuendo.

But this is my guilty pleasure, mid tempo, lush with instrumentation and vocal prowess. And that beat!

And if you are still with me, this is such an awesome live version of Haim's Nothing Wrong, zone in on the 3min 10 mark for the awesome talent of Danielle Haim.

Being an older white guy with little rhythm I will stick to my classic rock, blue jeans and t shirts...but....having said that I will admit that I do have Kylie on the playlist. I haven't heard of the others you put a link to. But I did listen...didn't mind Jessie's Imagine It Was Us.
The song I posted is rock not disco, disco not really my thing. But each to their own, everyone has different taste.
I also did like the Haim song, more to my taste and yes she can play. 😀👍

Cheers

Check them out, Haim are three sisters who are immensely talented, all doing vocals, drums, strings, keys.

This gives a spectrum of their talent.

And non-stop riffing......................

Yeah I will def. give Haim more attention. I now know they have had number one albums and that the guitarist is Danielle. 3 sisters in the band etc. And they play pop and rock. Thanks for that.

I discovered them by accident, actually from another band who covered their song "Don't Save Me", which is a live favorite of mine. Some of their later work is probably more rock than pop, I get the feeling the earlier stuff was heavily influenced by the record company, which toned down some of the rock.

Jessie I discovered via Kylie, they did a song together during Kylie's Disco album era. I've been hooked ever since. I also listen the podcast she does with her mother called Table Manners. If you are ever looking for something a little different to listen to, check it out. Basically, it's a podcast about food and family, a celebrity guest will join them for a meal which either Jessie or Lennie prepared at their home. It's all about food and how it plays a part in life and family. Its so sweet to listen to the banter between mother and daughter, and not always friendly. The podcast originally started by Jessie calling in mates from the music industry, but its gone on to become much more.

Guests include Jamie Oliver, Kate Winslet, Kylie and Danni Minogue, Cher, Shania Twain, Dolly Parton, Jesse Eisenberg, Dawn French, Joanna Lumley, Matt Lucas, Nigella Lawson, Ed Sheeran (who Jessie has co-written with), Tom Jones, Robbie Williams...........................

It's a wonderful country/world when you can discover new music on a car thread!👍

I will in the very near future be taking a deep dive into Haim. Thanks DFB5.0 😊

It's funny the way you learn about new things, people or whatever from a chat forum. Thanks mate.

Having said that I am playing right now...you guessed it... Doug Varty Keep The Dream Alive thru the tv speakers. This song is a Pumper! I know it turned on my female passenger...leave it at that. 😀👍

But Haim is next!

I guess I had better get back to Mustang related stuff soon. Might get moderated if I'm not careful...

Cheers

That's why I love forums, they are a place for learning and sharing, even if its sometimes off topic.

Not off topic at all, music and cars go hand in hand.

I pretty much always drive the Mustang solo. Other than giving the car a workout and letting that engine roar, there is nothing better than driving down the road with the music pumping........................just me, the car and the music.

A great song that you like takes the Stang experience to another level. And it doesn't matter your musical taste. Life is short so enjoy it while you can.

For me that song from Doug Varty yesterday was out of the blue. Probably well known in his own country but nowhere else I'm guessing...bit like Barnsey. When I heard that song yesterday...geez what a cracker. I love AcDc and the like but it rounded off a great local country Sunday sunny drive. Pub for lunch, people commenting on the car, letting kids and parents taking a pic in the car, then leaving and then hearing the exhaust...
