Mustang DH
My DH arrived with the standard Mustang dash badge last year. I complained to the dealer for months and finally the slapped one from another (newer) DH, so now I have a proper DH badge but with another car’s chasis number.
From their point if view case is closed. Should I take further steps, is there anything else I can do in Europe? Or should I accept it and let it have it’s own story to tell? I don’t plan to sell the car rather leave it to my son one day so Im not really concerned about its value (due to this change).

Thanks guys

I'm not sure there is anything you can do.

The car's VIN is on the dash, in the door jamb, on the engine block and certain chassis points.

At assembly, the lineman reaches into a pool of chassis number placards and places it on the dash. The action is completely random.

I looked through all my documentation, from the in-car build sheet, window sticker, closing documents, shipping packaging, etc. I found one place my chassis number was noted: in the Mach 1 Owner's Kit, something Ford gifts to US buyers. It's my understanding EU buyers do not receive the Welcome Kit.

Even if an owner had access to Ford's systems, because the act is random, the chassis number cannot be traced and carries no significance. In broad terms, lower-number cars are built earlier in the Model Year, but the numbers are not sequential.

What I think is more important:

Well-documented...

- Owner history
- Accident history
- Maintenance
- That all VIN references match
- That the car presents well. This can take on all kinds of meaning. But that it continues to look clean and it's been well taken care of

Returning to the placard, it's part of the car's history now. I'd just make a joke of it. That you witnessed a salesperson rip it off the dash of an recently-received car, stick it on yours and then wave your off. Maybe in-time, you'll actually meet the other car, at a show or something, and realize the two of you are related.

This is a site any of you might be interested in. New products become available from time-to-time. Bookmark it, and check it out occasionally.

In addition to that, owners do make their welcome kits available on eBay. I haven't priced a DH kit. If someone is gathering memorabilia, they might find a kit there.

Finally, Marti Reports. Marti Reports lage model years by several years. It's gonna be a while, but Marti will make a report available for '24s and '25s in the next three to five years.
