Can't see a s*it in my DH (dashboard lights)

If I shut down the engine, everything goes dark soon after (didn't measured, I believe 15-30s.. my headlight timeout is set to 120s), if I open the doors only the top lights turns on, but sitting in the car the middle bottom dashboard is not illuminated, I can't even find the "START" button! Is it supposed to work like this? My S550 had the START button illuminated until I exit and lock the car. Also discovered that the cup holders aren't illuminated... and neither the passenger glovebox... can't see what's in there in the night, I've to use the mobile's "torch"... wtf Ford, are you saving on the lights? :O ..they must have taken the word "Dark" too seriously.
