Trying to hardwire install a BlackVue 970X Plus (box version) into a 2025 Mustang GT.

The issue is that when I try to use the three wire hardwire install kit (red is switched, yellow is constant and black is ground), the until will not power on. I checked with a voltmeter and the barrel connector is getting 12.3v.

We tried to tap into fuse 28(rear window motor which should be constant, and not used in a coupe?) and 36 (states that it is a switched yet unused.)

Is the issue possibly with the fuse selections? I checked the box in my M3 which was mounted with a cigarette adapter and it powers on fine, so it's not the box-either a bad cord (but it shows 12v at the connector), bad ground (I tapped into the what appears to be the fuse box ground in the horizontal support running near the fuse box that appears to have the main fuse box ground cable running into it) or perhaps we have one of two (or both) fuses incorrect.

Has anyone wired a GT for a dashcam? Which fuses did you tap? Thanks.

Seems that now the front cigarette lighter may not be working. Is this likely fuse 32 under the hood? (Turns out that's not the original issue, as the cord doesn't work in other vehicles, but I wonder if a short in the cord might have blown the fuse?)

Why not just use the USB port in the rearview mirror for the dashcam. Your premium GT should have one

When I installed mine (24 Mustang GT - non coupe) I used #29 for ACC and #31 for CONSTANT. might be worth the try...Hopefully hings hasn't changed much

It's a BlackVue box camera. There's no USB option for the power. It's cigarette lighter or hardwire into the fuse box.

I may try those,. but those seem to be crucial systems. If the camera ever shorts it could take out the entire gauge cluster. I was trying the non-essential, but that might be the issue, these fuses might not be as advertised.

Just to make sure, the Mustang does use micro 2 fuses? I see sources online that specify almost every type, from standard to micro to micro 2, but they appear to be micro 2s?

Just as an update, I had the correct fuses after all. It eventually turned out to be a bad hardwire AND a bad cigarette lighter cable for the unit. Got those replaced, and the dashcam works fine. Turns off immediately (or with parking mode until battery drain-depending upon setting in the camera app). Works flawlessly. Thanks for the help, everyone.

Thanks for the reply. Used the back window motor fuse and a "spare" switched fuse. (Think they were 28 and 36, as neither is actively used in the coupe.)

Just to continue the saga...

Finally got BlackBoxMyCar to send replacement cords, it was faulty cords all along (both hardwire and cigarette adapter). Camera works fine, but son just noticed that neither 12Voutlet works.

Seems that continuity fails on the 20amp Mcase+ fuses under the hood. These things are not easy to find. Anyone know if there's any issue using either standard Mcase or an Mcase+ slotted? Ford doesn't even seem to have these things.
