Creating a thread as I’ve ordered everything to add a subwoofer to my 300a base model GT

I’m a bit of an old school bass head and did ALOT of research before ordering…. Parts should begin showing up to start install this weekend if weather allows!

I’ll be adding pics of everything during install…should be fairly high quality and everything was off the shelf stock… nothing custom or too crazy

Make sure to check Mustang6G there's a very very large thread on this exact thing. Looking forward to seeing it though!

Slowly started tinkering today, still waiting on sub, amp and box.

1. I removed the battery, cover and box.
2. Carefully drilled a hole, there is room but there is a wire harness in the area so you can’t be reckless.

snapped some pics from both sides, using 4 gauge wire and a grommet.

back to work, I’ll update as I make more progress ✌

Just curious...what sub/amp are you going with? I am in the same boat and want to upgrade the bass.

Got a little more tinkering in before work today, put battery and tray back in… connected power wire (no fuse for now)

pulled half of back seat, used a wire wheel to get a clean fresh ground.

Then my box showed up, test fit sub into box, which looked too small but it fit fine( not sure how it will perform being so close on depth)
If needed I can always add a 1” spacer for more room.

Test fit box in the car, it goes through the trunk.

still need to finalize wire runs, pick a spot for amp and LC2i and wire that in as well.

Finished running and tightening things up in the car, need to definitely add a capacitor, also need to add some poly batting to the enclosure.

system tunrned out pretty insane for 1 12”, I need to stuff a little more acoustic fill as the box is just a tad small and certain higher frequencies have a “peaky punchy” sound… need to slow the air some.

the lows are exactly what I was looking for… and with this orientation… from outside you don’t really comprehend just how low and nasty this thing is getting.

I’ll also need to add the capacitor as when I go to really push the gain I can see the voltage drop on the remote.

also it took a day of bumping fro the sub to break in… but… you’d really have to hear it.

probably just wrap this thread unless anyone has any questions..just trying to contribute to 7G and share!

i just wanted to be able to hit some nasty lows so big single ported it is.

I have a kicker down firing 12 and a 1200 Jensen amp with a crutch field loc tapped into rear speakers but I get a lot of interference when I shift and I’m at a lower rpm in a high gear. Like the speaker is mimicking the exhaust. It’s annoying really and I don’t want to damage my speaker. Anyone have similar issue? How do I fix it? I tried a noise filter. 2 of them actually but they did nothing! If I don’t wanna hear it I have to turn the remote amp control all the way down.

I had to unplug the noise canceling mic in the rear of the headliner.

it helped a lot for quiet mode, but if I go to track I’ll still get some hum through the system if I’m not listening to music.

however compared to LOCs from back in the 90s… this LC2i is a miracle worker

Nice build! I have a Sundown U12 rated at 1500rms with a Kicker 1800.1 amp that will be going in mine eventually. Just gotta save $$ to get the LIC. Already have sub, box, amp, and wiring kit from a previous vehicle.

I’ll follow up after a few weeks that, the sub “broke in” and sounds unbelievable.
It has got some just excellent lows, main reason I went with sundown in the 1st place.

the quality of bass and the frequencies it hits down to clean are 2nd to none.

I haven’t had a system in a long time so all the modern stuff is really impressive to me.

glad I didn’t cheap out and do a powered sub.
