Something odd I’ve noticed with my car. When unlatching and relatching the top the radio does a little blip like a power bump. Have any of you convertible owners experienced this? Or is my car weird?

I don’t think I’ve ever noticed any audio/sound. I’ve only heard warnings when the top wasn’t completely down.

Mine does the same thing. I think it is just to get your attention to make sure the top is fully up or down. Thats the only thing I can think of.

Hmm, now I'm curious. Next time I lower/raise it, I'll try to pay better attention.

Update: yep, it does blip radio volume....learn something everyday.

After the mention of the owner manual I looked it up. Page 277 mentions the audio blip. Thanks Buckeye!

I have not read the manual, but mine does it as well. I thought it was the digital sound processor changing the audio for a top up or top down situation. To me, the sound of the music is different.
I agree. I also think the audio is different with the top up or down.

Kinda like a different road noise compensation setting? (Ie 10 = 20 but is displayed as 10)

Not just the volume. I think the DSP programming changes. It is like calibrating your home theater, removing a couple of walls and calibrating again. Two different DSP calibration settings. Does that make sense?
I had an Audi converible with B&O and it did the same thing.

My '08 GT500 Convertible actually has a manual/digital setting that you are supposed to change for either Convertible, All Passengers or just Driver. It would make sense that the modern convertible would do it automatically.

Mine does the same thing. It's strange since the roof hatch is mechanical and the radio electrical.
