Maybe the V8 guys wont care, but as an ecoboost owner, the road noise in this car is insane. It's been awhile since I've owned a unibody, so it's not something I'm used to.

Doing the knock test throughout the body panels and it doesn't seem like there's any sound deadening in place. I plan on pulling panels in the next few weeks and going to town. Probably won't take much to knock the road noise in half.

Curious if anyone's done it yet and if you encountered any issues.

Let us know how it goes, the worst part is the taking apart part, just hate doing that on a new car.

Will do. I have some MLV on order. I'm probably just gonna start with the door panels, rear quarter panels (if I can get to them without tearing half the car apart). Knock test shows those were the worst. Surprisingly the roof didn't seem half bad.

Good luck. You wouldn't like the GT noise. I do though.

I wouldn't mind it at all. It's the deafening reverberation of road noise inside the car when I go down side roads. I can't even have a conversation over it.

I didn't buy a V8 on purpose. I bought a fun, daily driver that I won't feel bad racking up miles on. Great on gas and still relatively fast when I need it. I enjoy everything about driving it, cept the noise.

I like muh GT noise . Only reason I personally would use dynomat would be if I was installing a decent sound system in my GT. It is heavy when a lot is used and can't have that extra weight ;-)....race car, lol. Seriously though, dynamat can definitely quit/ muffle road noise down if properly placed.

Got my first oil change today at the dealership not sure what they are gonna charge me but been reading online some costs upwards of $350+. Just curious, how much did you pay and was it dealership, third party (Jiffy Lube etc) or done by yourself.

Thanks

I wasn't being critical at all and sincerely hope you have good outcomes. Whatever someone else owns is good with me. EcoBoosts don't make bad power. I bought my GT not worrying about miles, buying gas, tires, whatever. Your car doesn't make bad power. I had a fun 4.6 liter, 2007 GT with "only" 300 hp until someone helped it get totaled. I found out that Mustangs are good to be in if you HAVE to hit a wall head on at 65mph. The car exploded with parts flying but I just got out and called the po po without a scratch or bruise. Keep us posted.

Nope, not at all. I figured someone would say it :) That's why I opened up with "The V8 guys probably wont care" lol There does seem to be alot of entitledness/hostility in this community, particularly on the FB groups between the two engines. The V8 crowd tends to flash their wallets at the EBs, thinking they are poor. The EB crowd seems to think they actually stand a chance against the Coyote and will fight tooth and nail on the FB groups saying "I didn't spend XXX dollars and I can almost keep up with you!" lol Never really been a mustang person for the longest time. I don't expect to blend in much with this group, but I figure theres a few. I'm not scared of a few punches here and there on the internet.

If I didn't drive 130+ miles a day, I'd have bought a dark horse in a heart beat. It was staring at me on the lot, I could feel it. Problem is I needed something that got better gas mileage than my 6.7 super duty. Also the fuel system is starting to show it's age on my truck, so while I work on that, I needed a reliable vehicle. I burned through a tank every two days, and often working 6 days a week. That, and I wanted something I didn't feel bad devaluing for all the miles it's going to acquire. The EB is more of a smiles per gallon car. Plus I already have a project car, it's an MG TD kit car sitting in my garage. Eventually when I mover closer to our businesses, it wont bother me to get something nicer. I just drive too damn much. To me the ecoboost is like a Honda back in the 90s, only 10 times better. I know it's not a mustang. A part of me wants to strip the ponies off the bumpers, but apparently theres holes behind them.

Sorry to hear about your wreck, but it's damn good to walk away without a scratch. Says something for these cars.

Yep, 100% agree with you! Theres alot of folks who believe you need 500 square feet of dynamat to do a car too, when the reality is you can addresss 90% of your road noise with just a few small strips properly placed. You can achieve a similar goal without adding more than a pound or two. I have some of my old stereo equipment lying around that I may install in the car, some nice hertz components and a couple old rockfords that have taken a beating and lived for the past 15 years in my rides.

You drive 130 miles a day how is that? Is it to get to and back from work? If so that's crazy. I'm guessing if you moved closer you would save so much gas. Also that drive would be nicer in a Dark Horse HP LOL.

Lol. There's not much getting around it. One business is an hour one way, the other is and hour the other way. We're looking at potentially two more which are 2-3 hours away. It's only gonna get worse.

Good luck with the two new ones . I hope most are highway miles. If that was in traffic I personal would go crazy.

Dynamat is the devil's tool along with those spring hose clamps ! Seriously though, I installed Dynamat in my 03 GT vert mostly under the back seat and a full trunk treatment and even with the stock Mach 1000 system it made a major difference. Less road noise, gear noise and just a tighter sounding system. IMHO, at least with that car, it was worth the headache installing it.

This was actually something that I felt crazy about. I just had to rent an EB for a month. On average, I was seeing ~25-26 mpg with the EB, but I am currently averaging 19.4 with my V8. I felt that the EB should have got much better gas mileage.

I also felt that with driving the EB there was a huge change in performance depending on fuel used. Burning the first two tanks after renting, the car felt sluggish. After the third tank of premium it felt pretty decent for a daily driver.

I think it comes down to how heavy your foot is. I've been driving my diesels for awhile, got pretty good at keeping the foot out of it and using the torque. I did a nice long road trip couple weeks back, averaging 65mph and hand calculated 35mpg with the EB. If you watch the instant MPG guage, it will hover at around 45mpg at 62. Once you hit 70 tho, the mpgs drop like a rock. Stop and go is what hurts the mileage the most. I sit around 30-32 for my daily drives. I got a little more aggressive on the last tank and saw 27mpg
