11/2/2024 Drove off the lot of a Ford Dealership in Crossville, TN. Very nice folks. They had the exact GT I wanted with a MT. (I live 2 hours from the dealership. My servicing Dealer is 12 miles from home and did not have a MT) It was a Saturday and the process to get the deal done was actually pleasant. Sales Manager said they were finishing up with the detail and needed to complete 24S36 ASS software recall. Shortly thereafter he came over and said he couldn’t do the Recall update due to not having access to the software. He said he’d call me when he had the ability to complete the work. Meanwhile my points have not been added to my Ford Pass account after 38 days. I called today and the SMgr said he would not release my points until I got the Recall done. He even said he’d send a flat bed to my home 2 hours away to get the recall done after I told him I’m not driving 4 hours for the ASS recall. Really- he’d send a flat bed just for me? 😱 My servicing dealer at home told me that he wasn’t supposed to let me take the car without having the recall done and that Ford was withholding his money for the sale. Is that why he’s so interested in me getting the recall? My safety……probably not. Could be that’s why he’s holding my points hostage. While I’ve enjoyed not having ASS in my car I guess I’ll get my local Ford dealership to do the recall. But as one poster said the off button for ASS is right next to the BIG RED have fun Button. I need the points for mods but if I wait him out long enough and complain to Ford you think he’ll cave first? My local dealer says the dealership who sold it has visibility over whether I get the update or not. Al Gore shoulda never invented the the interweb. Maybe I’ll call the SMgr and negotiate for more points, free oil changes, etc. Well………….,

Did your servicing dealer tell you that your warranty was started and valid?

I’ve received my title showing 11/2/24 sale date and my permanent registration. So I assume so. However it was weird that Ford Pass had no record of the sale of the car showing me as the owner.

The dealer let you driver the car home after the purchase even though it had an active recall? He wasn't supposed to do that and probably did you a favor seeing how far you drove to buy that particular car.(he probably won't be doing that for the next guy) Now he's doing everything he can to finalize the sale and you're refusing to even have it done at your local dealer? Why are you holding your own points hostage over this?

I hated the ASS on my Focus RS but you gut used to the button pretty quick and it's not worth all this hassle to avoid it IMO. I do hope you get your point soon and have fun modding!

Like I said in my post it looks like I’m headed to my local servicing dealer to have the ASS recall done. My servicing dealer suggested I call Ford to complain but as I said I need the points. So I’m doing the recall. I thought I said the ā€œhave fun button is right next to the ASS off buttonā€ as well. My appointment is tomorrow.

With an open recall, they aren't supposed to let you take it unless the recall is fixed, they can't report the vehicle sold until the recall is fixed as well. Plus, Ford warns of a heavy fine if dealer is found to have delivered with recall not done. Once it's complete, they can do what they need to do and you'll get your points. You'll probably have to call in again to verify they have record of the sale now.

Here is all you need to do.... walk into the dealership, just ask to sit in the car so you can at least see it. Bring a USB cable, pair your phone, accept the prompt, your points will then come. That's it. If the contract is signed, it's your car, regardless of waiting on the warranty work, so no issue wanting to pair your phone.

I bought mine form an out of state dealer and just asked the sales guy to sit in the car and turn it on, then I submitted the pairing request and he clicked form the car to accept it. I told him I wanted to be able to see the location after the sale and until it arrived. I got the points already and the car isn't even in my driveway yet.

Issue resolved. Got the Automatic Stop/Start Module thingy recall done at my local servicing dealership. They were nice enough to expedite the paperwork/system update on their end. Three days later my points showed up in Ford Pass. Then 24 hours later another 31,000 points showed up. To be clear I never asked the selling dealership for anything. After all the helpful posts from everyone I realized how fortunate I really was to have driven the GT off the lot in the first place with that outstanding recall. Now if only my Ford Performance Street Suspension Upgrade Pack would ship. It’s been on BO about a month. Patience is a such hard thing.
Mods to date: Ford Performance Front Strut Tower Brace, J&L Oil Separator, Think Auto Tech Air Intake Filter Kit, Extreme OS Carbon Fiber Hood Engine Vent, Gorilla Black Lug Nuts (Bronze Stock Wheels), 25mm Wheel Spacers.
