OK a while back there was some discussion about the lack of side filler pieces to cover the roof mechanism or a tonneau cover for the roof when it is down

Other forums mentioned that at one point there were plastic side pieces that were shipped with the G6 cars.

The prevailing thought was ( and I agree with them ) that the reinforcing webbing on the bottom side would rub against the roof and damage the top

Ford in their infinite wisdom put a little foam on the bottom of the parts but I would not trust that little bit of foam to protect the roof.

Apparently it was enough of an issue that the G7 cars were not shipped with the inserts.

BUT.... the G5 inserts will fit the car.

Now I did order a set from Benny @LevittownFordParts and he was kind enough to offer a shipping discount, and they do fit BUT

I will not run them on the car, I will pop them in when I hit the cruise nights down here in SW Florida that will be starting up any day now

I'd post pictures but for some reason this site never lets me upload them

Here is a pic I stole from another thread

I am not placing a lot of faith in them, and Ford must have had enough warranty claims to make including them on the Gt cars an issue

YMMV

But when the car is parked it does fill in the opening nicely

I found it a waste of time to use them on my 2017

They are in the trunk of Gen 7 convertibles in Germany.
Haven't used them yet though.

The S550 fits. I typically do not use them unless in a car show. They mark up the top.

When you say it marks up the top, is that temporary or permanent? I was considering getting these when I put my car in a car show as well, but I'm concerned about damage to the top.

It comes off, but do not know about the long term effect

If the car is not moving, I don't see where they are going to cause any damage, especially if the foam is still in place.

As for driving the car and having the bottom rub against the roof fabric... I'm not taking that chance

I have mine for shows and cruise in events.

@Neggytive ..... at a local Mustang nite an owner who had the inserts said they were starting to mark his top. He didn't even want to sell them as he didn't want to damage anyone else's car. he just threw them in the garbage. I have heard this several times before.

I put mine on when I got to the monday afternoon cruise in today, and when I put my chair back in the trunk they got put back in the trunk too.

I will not leave them in when driving
