Congrats on getting it cleaned up. Many years ago I was driving a new silver Z28 when I ran over an aerosol can of fluorescent orange paint, I think for marking roads. It ruptured and sprayed orange all down that side of the car. Took a good amount of rubbing with tar remover, clay, etc. to get...
I think the reason some people are down on the performance package is because 1) it's climbed a lot in price over the last 5 years or so (from $4000 to like 6500), but the basic equipment you get hasn't changed much; and 2) Even after spending the money on it, people found out that the car is...
I feel like Ford holds the "lower tier" cars back deliberately to induce demand for the "special" models. The base GT & even PP1 GT are deliberately not that great to "encourage" buyers to spend $$$ on Bullitt/Dark Horse/Mach 1/GT 350 etc.
I'm not saying the base GT should ride like a rock...
If anyone knows of any pics showing the "base" (standard) wheels for the GT and GT Premium I'd love to see 'em. I think the base GT wheel is 18x8.5" (finally ditching the narrow 8" wheels from the S550 GT), and I think the base GT Premium wheels are 19x8.5 or 19x9??
If Ford is reading these threads for customer concerns on quality, then I hope they improve the interior build quality and solidity--my S550 has too many random buzzes and rattles when driven on anything other than the smoothest roads. I can happily overlook some panel gap issues, but rattles...
These prices make me feel old. My senior year of high school, MSRP on a Mustang GT was $13k. Granted that didn't include AC, ABS, airbags, 4-wheel discs, IRS, or power anything, it was basically a shiny crate with four wheels and a V8.
