I am in Michigan as well and had vinyl stripes on my 2006 that I drove all year long, including on a 45 mile each way commute from Port Huron to Detroit. Put over 200,000 miles on it with no issues.

Quite a difference actually. The EcoBoost I used to get 26 or 28 mpg driving to my office and could hit 30's on trips. On the GT I am more like 20 to 22, highest so far I think was around 26 mpg on a trip, but enjoy it anyway!
