Guess it's just the interaction between the plastic and the particular case you are using. Maybe try a different case and see if it improves. I have a leather case on my phone and no issues.

The stubby is a 30 second swap. It's that simple. And they aren't expensive. Definitely worth a try. You can always go back to the original later if you choose. Just screws right on/off
