I did think about moving some weight, mainly because I heard (I think) that someone makes a lighter bumper / bumper bar. But something about the effort/process to achieve that weight shift kinda turned me off.
@MCS, thanks for the real-world measurement. I'm sticking w/my 19s, but I can see how your gain + the 20s would help you out.
BTW, I'm at 11.5 cm. As ride heights go, I don't mind that. It's the factory Spring's inability to manage the weight under braking, poor road cond, big swells or bumps...
I don't have an exact weight, but based on what I've read, at least 100lbs. That (to me) is a significant weight gain in the front should have concerned the engineers at Ford / Ford Performance. Not complaining, just seems like a lack of holistic oversight when it come to the effect such an...
Spacers, interesting, hadn't considered that. Sounds like it would be a cheaper solution.
Edit: I was a bit skeptical of this idea, but I checked out steeda's spacer kit for the S5/650s, and it appears that w/the shims you can get to 1/2"--which may be just enough.
Maybe not the total...
I was thinking the same thing. If you don't mind me asking, despite being lowered a bit (1"?) in the front, how's your daily drives? I live in CO, so I contend with lots of road and driveway challenges--ugh.
Not long after my SC was installed, I could immediate feel (maybe I mean imagine, IDK) the difference in the front-end behavior: car felt heavier under braking, and I was scraping in places where previous I had not.
Now, I’m x2 as cautious as was previously just on daily drives.
I don’t race...
I've done H-and X-pipes on almost everything (to include non-Mustangs). Had an H-pipe on my first DH (enjoyed it but not overjoyed with it) and went with the Borla Switchfire X-pipe on my second DH.
I wish I could better capture the aural aesthetic--but, alas, such a feat is not within my skill...
Yes, all my cars, to include the numerous Mustangs I've owned (GT500s, GT350, GTs, Super Snake, DHs), were all all-season, all-weather fighters. Never been in an accident (Summer or Winter)...but I drive very reasonably in Winter. My worry is usually the untrained in compacts and those overcome...
I'm in the same age range and have run this same analysis. I've owned 8 Mustangs over the years (GT500s, GT350, GTs, Super Snake, and DHs). All my Mustangs have been grocery getting, all-season, all-weather fighters. Currently live in CO and just bought my second DH with HP (my first DH was...
Fitcamx w/Front 1440P+ Rear 1080P cams.
Have had other brands in the past, e.g., Blackvue DR970X-BOX-2CH-PLUS w/batt pack for parking mode. However, the lack of OEM appearance always kind bugged me.
Just a little follow up. This was too easy to fix. I believe someone else already mentioned this, but we simply rotated the rear section clockwise maybe a 3/4" or so and reclamped the pipe. Added a spot weld in two places for the hell of it.
All done.
Yikes! I'll take a second set of photos after the adjustment. Unless the design is radically different, don't see why the MBRP couldn't be adjusted as well.
My res delete could have been the cause. I probably should have noted the orientation before my res delete, but never had this happen on my last DH or any of my GTs. But the shop that is doing the work is taking care of it. If my back wasn't so bad, I guess I could have tried to manage it myself.
Was tempted to do the same. It's not effecting anything save my OCD. But, the shop who installed my Borla pipe is not charging me for the work, so why not.
