It looks like the door still has some sharp creases and muscular surfacing. Looks like you really have to see it in person to notice the difference it makes. I also wasn't a massive fan at first of the longer, flater rear deck, I like seeing fastbacks stretched all the way to the decklid. That...
Looks like I'm filling out this trio of opinions because I'm mixed on it. Love some elements, would love to see some tri-bars that cut into the trunk lid like that. Also love the front end. Don't dig the the interior, and the side, while attractive, isn't as exciting as the rest of the car
That can be how it works for some projects, but the timeline is all screwed up. I literally own a book from a ford designer who worked on the s550 project who said they didn't even start the exploratory phase until '09. The s550 can't inspire the explorer if the explorers design is locked in...
I just said the s550 design process began in '09. To which you responded that the s550 design process actually began in '09. You just confirmed what I said. If you're confused, I'm saying the explorers design, which uses some design features similar to the s550 came out in 2010 as a 2011 model...
Hard to say, the tarus and explorer designs that came out around 2010 (some of ford's best mainstream designs imo) shared some similar design features to the s550. Like the 2 character lines running along the side. If that gen of explorer came out in 2010, that means the design was probably...
Yeah, I'm debating if I prefer the side surfacing or the s550, or the s650. The s650 is cleaner, but the s550 side looks a little sharper. The issue with the two lines on the side of the s550 is they're are very similar to the explorer, and tarus character lines on their doors. It looks good for...
I kinda love what they did with the new headlights. I haven't seen many people bring this up, but one of the things that makes the s650 front end look so good, is the strong linear brow line running across the entire front end. Makes the front end look sportier, and more muscular. Placing those...
I personally think the gt has a gorgeous front end design. It's more agressive than the current gt front end, but it's by no means over the top or too much. Most people seem to like it, especially those who've seen it in person.
Not sure what it is, but these prototypes seem to do a great job showing off how muscular the s650 looks. The rear hips look so meaty compared to the already wide hips of the s550. It's great.
If Ford was just slapping the mustang name on anything, I'd agree with you. But it's not like they're planning to make a mustang truck or van. So far, we have a badass iconic muscle car, and a sexy, good performing hot hatch, that's a pretty solid performance line-up. As long as future mustang...
The way I see it, making the mustang its own sub-brand helps to deliver on Iacoca's original vision. From the beginning, with the gen 1 design, you can see they were doing fullsize mock-ups of a mustang sedan, as well as a wagon I believe at a later point. Let's also not forget that there are...
They did the opposite, they opened the door to the idea of making a compelling sub-brand. One could argue backing yourself into a corner would be only making one model in a declining segment.
Very hard to say, as someone with a comms/advertising background, words can seldomly express how useful having a beloved and recognizable nameplate can be when trying to break into a highly competitive segment. Everyone is saying the mach-e would be just as competitive without the mustang name...
