I stuck with the Whipple tune for now. I also run no cats. Using defoulers on the connecting tubes works like a charm and no CEL. Car runs great but I’m sure a custom tune in the future could net a little more power. I’ll probably wait until I make another major change before a new tune.

Finished up installing Kooks 1 7/8 long tubes and a Whipple stage 2. ‘Ol girl is a rocket ship now.

If it helps anyone; I’m finishing up the install of my whipple stage 2 kit in my garage right now. Whipple emailed me the calibration 24 hours after I sent them my calibration request. There is definitely no hold on whipple stage 2 calibrations.

In most cases, that’s not why the gears fail; also, the supercharger should not cause vibration. If it is, that’s a different problem. Almost always, a dramatic change in load, like dumping the clutch or launching the car at high rpm while not moving is the reason for failure. Bouncing the rpms...

I just bought a whipple stage 2 and 1 7/8 long tubes from lethal performance. I also have a Dark Horse. For street cruising and infrequent track use, that is a proven combo, which is why I went with it

To answer an earlier question, yes, all American Dark Horse models have an oil cooler, standard. Mine is an example of a non-HP DH with all of the same coolers, including the oil cooler, as the HP version. European DH models may be optioned differently.

I’ve got UPR catch cans on my DH and a J&L catch can on my Explorer. They are nearly identical in terms of material and hardware. Both catch oil in the same manner. Other than appearance, it doesn’t really matter which one you choose.
