You are a democratic Republic. Your country is governed by democratic processes. Your own government says so! Government_and_You_handouts.pdf Of course even this is politicised in the US these days! Is the US a democracy? Yes, but it's more complicated than you thought. — We the Veterans

We are still part of Europe even if we are not in the EU (as some other European countries are too)
  3. Ford doubles down on EV future

I wouldn't make any assumptions about oil prices. Several on here have predicted surges in oil prices and crashes in oil prices and pretty much every time they have been wrong. Of course if they were right often enough they wouldn't be posting on a car forum, they would be counting their money...
  4. Ford doubles down on EV future

China is a pretty big country and more EVs are sold there than anywhere else in the world. Range is very similar now too. In fact infrastructure is the issue not the range per se. If you have convenient rapid charging as is the case in some countries then the individual car range is not a...
  5. Ford doubles down on EV future

Pretty sure I wasn't talking to you so keep your offended responses for somebody else
  6. Ford doubles down on EV future

Your lack of infrastructure investment in the US is a huge problem and one of the the reasons you have had 'cheap' energy for so long. Cheap for a reason. Don't underestimate the ability of China to change rapidly, it is already at 35% of electricity generation by renewables. Local pollution is...
  7. Ford doubles down on EV future

US - I'm clearly talking global. Global company that sells more cars outside the US than in the US.
  8. Ford doubles down on EV future

Which as I have pointed out is not entirely true either. Pedantically ICE sales are bigger than EV sales but I know which area I would put my money in as the ratio is changing pretty fast
  9. Ford doubles down on EV future

Not sure where the 'it was supposed to be the majority already' comes from globally? Globally no, although in some places EV sales are over 50% of cars sold now. It is 95% in Norway, 60% in Sweden, over 50% in China (a HUGE market). Nowhere near saturation in other countries well behind those...

Elected (democratically) hence representing the people. I think you will find the majority of Americans did actually vote for your current incumbent president. You pay for your healthcare one way or another such as insurance premiums.
  11. Ford doubles down on EV future

I am certain the increase will slow down. It cannot continue at 60% or 50% because the numbers are so high now. 60% increase of 1 million is considerably less than 60% increase on 17 million. In fact 20% of 17 million is a lot more than 60% of 1 million. It is just maths.
  12. Ford doubles down on EV future

Well cigarettes are clearly not safe (and we all pay for the consequences of those that smoke whether passively or financially) and with the current obesity problem in the US (and UK catching up) then again there is a good reason for it. We ALL pay for smokers and obese people in the end via our...
  13. Ford doubles down on EV future

Well that isn't quite true is it? Try this example - you drive on the left in the US and stop at red lights (mostly). They are laws that your government enforce via the Police. I assume you are happy with that? It will affect your financial situation if you fail to comply via fines etc. So the...
  14. Ford doubles down on EV future

Not what those figures I quoted say?
  15. Ford doubles down on EV future

Well of all of the 4 things I quoted I am TOTALLY happy that they are being done in the UK. Are you saying you disagree with the 4 items I quoted?
  16. Ford doubles down on EV future

Is it? Global electric vehicle sales up 25% in record 2024 | Reuters Electric Vehicles - Worldwide | Statista Market Forecast Of course the rate of growth will slow as it represents more of the market. Nowhere near saturation that is for certain. There are huge variations between countries...
  17. Ford doubles down on EV future

What is it about people in the US and their government paranoia? Market manipulation is and always will go on. Why are cigarettes so expensive? Why was leaded fuel banned, Why was DDT banned? Why do some countries have a 'sugar' tax?
  18. Ford doubles down on EV future

I know a few people who don't, but that doesn't really constitute data either way.
  19. Ford doubles down on EV future

OK, 17 million people is quite a few! I was asking whether all those 17 million people hated their cars - not the same thing 20% and rising strongly. Direction of travel is clear.
  20. Ford doubles down on EV future

Really? Where is your evidence to support that statement? I know a lot of people who love their EVs but you need real evidence to state something like that. 20% of global sales (17 million cars) were EV last year - you are saying they all hate them?
