Has anyone put a pressure sensor in the stock s650 GT intake, between the grill and airbox (with lids on)... On a Dyno?
I see this conversation get completely takeoff on a tangent to air intake temperatures.... but zero about if the grill is actually restriction considering it's mostly...
Let me rephrase the question (sorry).
The question is: Are there any back-to-back dyno runs... showing a before-and-after comparison, of a stock S650 GT with and without the airbox covers on (hood open).

I've seen this issue "sort of" addressed..... but I haven't seen any straight up back-to-back dyno runs of a S650 GT on dyno... stock... with airbox lids on, and airbox lids off (basically simulating an open GT grill non-restricted grill).
Are there any?

Done a lot of racing myself. But I have to say... that video with the chase car cam was probably one of the coolest track videos I've seen. And the driving looks great too (although there's no way I'd do that with at least a super light carbon helmet even with no Hans). Nice work!
A pressure sensor will accurately tell you if the "mostly blocked off" grill is restricting air flow to the air boxes.

Obviously Ford opened up the grill on some models. There is for sure at least one big reason why, or Ford wouldn't have done it.

It would be no different that running the car on a dyno with the hood open and the air box covers removed.
So if the ECU can compensate in that scenario, then there is no issue.
If you are in California, you will see gas stations that have "E85". Yellow handle pump. That's what the gas stations call it.
Go blame them.
And... my gauge measures the ethanol content real-time. Yes it's not 85% ethanol. I get it. But that is what's being sold which is called "E85"...
These are race cars not street cars. I was only pointing out the power difference between the 2 fuel types.
Nobody runs pump e85 in expensive race engines because the amt of ethenol varies too much.... Hence the 110 leaded race fuel (at the race track).
Also... as another data point: Dynoed the LS7 race car on race fuel 110 leaded, then E85 pump (which was about 78%-79% ethanol. Only made 5RWHP difference at 650RWHP. Not worth it (even if the pump E85 was consistent)
The sweet spot is fuel that will let you run all the ignition timing you need without detonation. I haven't played with these cars tuning wise (nor am I going to) but if that engine can run all the ignition timing it needs with 50-60% ethanol great (not too surprising considering it's a NA...
The biggest problem, and the reason we don't run pump E85 in our races cars, is the quantity of ethanol in pump E85 is never the same (in fact it can easily vary by 15-25% which is huge). So without knowing the quantity of actual ethanol in the gasoline, your tune must be compromise and...

The problem is that no street car runs down to empty. So it's always going to be blend. Been there done that. It's not good for a daily driver unless you're surrounded by yellow E85 pumps... lol...
