I use the Uniden R8 in my DH (Blendmount and wire tap) as well as the F150. I've been using that clunky coil cord in the truck because I've been lazy, but I recently got sick enough of it to add a wire tap to the rearview mirror in the truck. Mucho better!

Lots of short drives means the engine doesn't fully reach operating temperature. When that happens, moisture that has built up inside the engine (while it was not running) doesn't get expelled (as steam). Oxidation and rust can result.

"Break in" really isn't needed. That used to be along the lines of "constantly change your RPM, your driving speed, yada yada." What's needed is to use common sense -- don't beat the crap out of it and run it to redline 4x an hour during the first ~1K miles and you'll be just fine.
