I have a Dark Horse with the handling package. Could you give me an idea of how I go about installing the tow hook. I stopped the video as soon as I saw the front end of the car removed.
Update - PWR's 42mm radiator is about 1/4" thicker than the Dark Horse radiator, but I have to think the dual pass model being used by the racing teams is better, or they would have just picked this off the shelf unit and dropped it in without any of the modifications required by the dual pass...
Here is a bit about the Dark Horse R cooling modifications.
https://trackmustangsonline.com/threads/darkhorse-r-mustang-challenge-car-58.20657/page-16#post-329751
There has to be a way to do it. Just because I do not know what it is does not mean it cannot be done.
But I am inclined to think the radiator that the Dark Horse R cars used as an upgrade (dual pass) may be a step in the right direction, along with an even larger oil cooler or a second oil...
Ok, I see that part here:
https://zl1addons.com/collections/tow-hooks/products/mustang-dark-horse-feather-lite-stealth-tow-hook
How difficult is it to install? Does anything need to be cut, drilled, modified? Does it seem to be firmly attached so that the vehicle could be pulled out of the...
Have you planned cooling modifications for oil and coolant yet? 750 to the wheels generates a lot of heat that has to be removed from the engine oil and coolant.
Ran across this strange thread - a guy is asserting that he was able to manage heat . . .
I run my Whipple PP car on track a fair bit. It is an absolute hoot. I have added a belt bar and run a 5 point harness. I have the larger intercooler from Whipple, and I run a stage 1 system. I have coil...
P0217 "engine coolant over temperature"
P0430 "catalyst system efficiency below threshold on bank 2"
And a cool bit of video where a guy is tracking his late 60s classic Mustang.
So the P0217 does not seem to match the temperatures he recited above? What coolant temp trips that code? 250?
Toward the end, he says:
200 oil temp. (that's nothing)
190 differential
220 CHT (again, that's nothing for on track)
Does Whipple power fall off at such low temperatures?
Cheap Kenda tires - wow, you can hear them screeching and howling on every turn.
Heat - The Mustang did not go into limp mode or anything, but in the commentary afterward, he said the power was down, as he was not able to accelerate much more than the red Mustang in the video and it did not...
First you have to remove the three pins (not sure why they did not take these out at the factory or why they are installed in the first place).
This is a GT 500, but it is the same, and shows in detail how to to remove the pins.
LMR installed a Whipple on their Dark Horse with a manual Tremec and took it to Motorsports Park Hastings in Hastings, Nebraska.
I don't know what the temperatures are, but everybody is in shorts and T shirts (EDIT - 71 degrees). It is also not a serious shakedown run. It looks like they are...
Mounted today.
Drove home at 47 degrees.
They were fine, even when pushed a little. Of course, this was 47 degrees. We'll see what happens when it is colder. Hopefully no cracking or sliding to my death.
Since I ran PS4S on my Audi for years including wintertime, without having any...
I read online, however, that combustion temperature is "hundreds" of degrees lower. I do not know how they test that.
However, ethanol vaporizes at 172 degrees, way lower than gasoline, and vaporizing removes heat (this is how sweet cools off our bodies). I am pretty sure that ethanol is...
Actual race cars (for realsies) on slicks seeing CHT of 275-280.
The 275 maximum is with a new, dual pass radiator. The CHT with old radiator hit 280, and they had to back off.

One guy on a Corvette forum anecdotally reporting that he noticed a 10-15° increase in oil temperatures on the road course after switching back to 93 octane.

. . . but the he later...
I am not an engineer, but I am having trouble trying to figure out whether there is any relationship to exhaust system temperatures and the temperature of oil or coolant.
