The V6 is interesting......I had assumed the Ecoboost 6 would make an appearance in S650 (not at the expense of the V8, but alongside it)......it never made it to S550 as it would fit in the engine bay (at least not and still pass certain requirements).
With the S550's extended timeline...
Mustang was going to be the car for Le Mans......but Project Silver was cancelled.......

I agree with your first statement.......absolutely no-one has stated the Mustang will be discontinued :)
But as for "what if they did kill it off"? The Mustang isn't just a materialistic ego-booster, certainly not for me. For me, it's a car with an amazing story behind it. It's a car that...
OK, they're referencing the same source, but......

Now, let me just reiterate again......just because an "all new" Mustang has been cancelled, doesn't mean we might not see a heavily revised S550 within those original...
Just to be clear......even if S650 is dead, that doesn't mean the death of the Mustang. It just means that whatever was planned for the '21MY Mustang has changed significantly.
I'll still be happy with an updated '21MY S550.2 :)
Absolutely.......although Ford being Ford they will neither confirm nor deny :frusty:
All we can do is sit on the sidelines and hope for the best for our beloved Mustangs :)
Well, whilst an all new Mustang would have been great, I assume Ford will continue to develop the S550. I'm sure more info will be forthcoming in the years ahead :)
A pretty depressing article. I guess time will tell if there's truth to it :(

As much as I lamented the demise of retro when Ford designed the S550, they made the right move in going modern, whilst still keeping an eye on the past.
This first one would be fantastic, if spun off the S197. It's looks a little like the Equus....and I could see this being done by the likes...
As much as it pains me, I think the V8 will become the niche engine. However, as long as it's remains an option for the duration of S650 (& S750, please Ford!!!) I'll be happy.
Topnotch's engine line-up makes sense......although I wouldn't be surprised to see the 2.7 Ecoboost instead of the...
I guess they could do a (very) mild refresh for the '20MY, as that would be it's 55th Anniversary. No new sheet metal, but perhaps a few tweaks to bumpers/lights. That's complete speculation on my part, and only going by the fact the S197 received a final (and similar) tweak for the '13/'14MY...
