I've only posted this about a dozen times........so at some point someone at Ford will get the memo :D
Just save yourself some design time and just use this!! :headbang:
Good article.......shame they take a swipe at the poor old Mustang II. They should have clarified (in my opinion) it was the lack of a V8 in the first II that hit enthusiasts hardest. In terms of sales, the II was a home run.
It'll be on the drawing board by now though......and possibly at...
Hmm, the BRZ is a 2+2 as well, but not a very usable one.
I certainly don't mind them shaving an inch or two here and there, but I think a drastic change like that would put many people off buying one, me included.
Anyway, sounds like that's not happening now :)
The yet to be launched, Supra? Based off a 2 seat BMW roadster? :tsk:
One of the key requirements for me is the Mustang is a genuine, usable 2+2 with a decent trunk.
14 years ago, I was the driver of a 300zx (hence my Twin Turbo name).....and I was very tempted with the (then) new...
Absolutely. My assumption was that pushing it back to the '22MY was to ensure it utilised CD6 (with Aviator and Explorer development taking the initial lead on the platform). Who knows, may that was the plan?
I never expected CD6 to give us a smaller Mustang, so that's interesting news...
I know you're reliable source, so I read everything you type with great interest :)
I will say though.....CD6 is the basis of the new Lincoln Aviator and next-gen Explorer. Whilst I appreciate it's a concept (albeit very close to production) it was mentioned that the rear suspension of the...
It is, of sorts. Its going to be sold with the Polestar branding. But as a pure electric coupe, that's one of the nicest I've seen.
Pity they are going to be well over $100k though :(
Haha....no, I wish I knew. I just try and find pieces of the puzzle and put them together. And add in some wishful thinking. Doesn't always work though :D
I thought CD6 was their RWD/AWD/Longitudinal platform? At least that's what I'd read on BOF. If not, do you see S650 being "just" a...
Agreed.
Whilst I'm sure the V8's days are numbered, I'm hoping/expecting the Coyote will live for the duration of S650.
Ideally, we'd still have:
5.0
5.0 + electric motors
5.2 + FI + electric motors
:ford:
Potentially, yes, depending on how it's integrated.
Our new friend Farruko also intimated that we'd see a hybrid V8, but not before S650/next-gen, so its good to hear it from you.
Topnotch, do you still think it'll be a '21MY? I've read elsewhere that the next-gen Mustang will be based on...
Interesting discussion with Tom Barnes (Mustang Engineer). Obviously he doesn't state specifics, but.....

Good to know the new Mustang (even if it's "just" S550 v2.0 rather than S650 v1.0) is being worked on. If the time frame remains for the '21MY, my guess is we'd start seeing very early mules on the road some time next year? Guess they'll be harder to spot, too, if they're heavily based on the...
