yes the mechanical pedal-to-piston interface still exists. What they've done is LIE to the user about braking force being correlated to pedal force. Ie no more long pedal and soft pedal. The computer compensates with it's hydraulic rams to take the variability out.

GM Orders Stop Sale on C8 Corvette Over Brake-by-Wire Sensor Issue
That was back in 2020. So it's not exactly a 'benign' design change. What is the failure mode when a fiddly-ass sensor goes on the fritz? Will a driver recognize the condition and adapt in time?
this is yet again engineers...
I doubt that. I would give my left nut for being able to buy individual parts off the Ford Options Catalog (tm) like bespoke audio systems, digital dash, and recaro in driver position ONLY etc. (not that I give a damn about audio or digi dash, just using it as strawman)
Ford charges INSANE...
Foxbody was ugly as sin. It looked like a tin can or a bar of soap hacked and lopped with a dull butter knife in 5 strokes. The 'II' at least had some charm and charisma, with some actual curves befitting a 70's car.
I'm firmly in the "way to BUTCHER the Z car" camp. They didn't murder it enough with the Z300 and they had to come back for another round...
Ford would have to dramatically improve the workings of the car (beat the pants off the Camaro SS/1LE) for me to close my eyes and hold my nose long...
that's why I bought a 300A (36k) and 100A (28k). The latter has one of those bar thingies you have to pull up on to slide the seat back and forth. I felt like I was transported back to the nirvana of 1968.
Problem is the buying public is 99.99999999% interested in damn fru-fru. Your "i'm gonna...
because it is an essential part of the driving equation. You can modulate a hand-brake, you can't do that with electronic push-button brake. The e-brake is supposed to be used to hold the car on non-flat surfaces when you are pulling away. And if you're Travis Pastrana, to spin the car around...
then they are doing something SERIOUSLY wrong. Or do you mean they're left with 4% after they give away 10-15% to the dealer? Either way, Ford is stupid. The dealer doesn't deserve more than 3%.
