  1. I must not be driving fast enough . . . .

You can simply leave it engaged and press the gas pedal to override some of the "back off". I do this all the time if I suspect a slow moving turtle is about to move left to pass an even slower moving turtle. Damn. We have 2 lane roads signed at 75. Your law makers and law enforcers are...

First road trip with the whipple and best mpg I've seen since:

That is some timeless beauty right there.
  5. Victim of a pothole :(

    What wheels are those?
  6. Front tires out of round

I agree, but I will point out that just because he feels the intensity of the vibration most at that speed range doesn't mean the vibration isn't there at other speeds and not noticed. Yup. These kinds of problems will make your hair turn white or pull it out in frustration.
  7. Front tires out of round

what cold psi? If you're feeling the vibration in the steering wheel now, it's going to degrade over time/miles. It is not going to improve by itself.
  8. Front tires out of round

ask if they can measure vertical and horizontal run out. The tire may need to come off for the vertical check. Basically you mount the wheel, put a fixed, non marring tool right up against the wheel edge and rotate. none of them are perfect, the question is whether the run out is acceptable...
  9. Front tires out of round

This won't cause any collateral damage by itself over even hundreds, possibly thousands of miles unless you are WAY out of round / balance. Unfortunately, you have >1 variable at each corner; tires & wheels. Does your shop have a 'road force' balancer? This is much more precise and balances...
  10. I want my s550 back.

As much as I hate the hue and cry "there oughta be a law" ... This really needs to be outlawed.
  11. Hit a Coyote With My Coyote

Ouch. Sorry to hear about that but glad you're ok. Not long after track attack I got to test out my HP brembos vs. a feral cat that crossed perilously in front of me at about 70mph. The cat made it, damn those brakes are great. Unfortunately I nailed a raccoon on the way to the gym a few...
  12. I want my s550 back.

so @Billycar11 isn't wrong about the possibility of vehicle data sharing. https://www.verisk.com/company/newsroom/ford-and-verisk-collaborate-to-offer-telematics-data-to-insurers/ But this reports to Verisk; a data warehouse...
  13. I want my s550 back.

Again, I ask how? What specifically reports this to "an insurance company" ? (because many of us would be without insurance were this prevalent/true). Data Ford releases to data warehouses isn't _driver_ specific. Best case, you can establish the owner of the vehicle and that does not...
  14. I want my s550 back.

How, exactly is the insurance company aware of your speed, much less the speed limit? Are you conceding to a vehicle monitoring dongle to save $$$ on insurance? If so, and please don't take this personally, that would be a very stupid decision. I have a close personal friend who is a...
  15. Instrument cluster inoperable

You can try a battery disconnect/reconnect. IIRC, there was a recall for this.
  16. Victim of a pothole :(

Make sure you check those wheels thoroughly. It's a good sign the lip appears in good shape, maybe your tires took the brunt of the impact.
  17. How much did you pay for a Dark Horse SC?

Honestly, if they're quoting you +10k, they sound like they're hedging. I'd tell them +6k - their "fee" + not having to go through BS and I'd bet they take it. ETA: That is, IF I'd be willing to abandon the work on my poverty 'just a whipple coyote' Dark Horse.
  18. Cabin air filter delete mod OP

42 (at least). "Kiddos are so sensitive these days" got hidden.
