Radical new shape that's a truck, but not really a truck in terms of looks, described as a new silhouette, others who've seen it have described it as sleek and aerodynamic. Unheard of aero for a truck developed by...
I like the way you think. Originally, I was thinking Ford should use c2 as a platform base for this, which is a super flexible, and generally well received platform that underpins the ton of models, the downside is C2 is FWD or AWD, not sure mustang fans will accept it.
That being said...
Thanks! Yeah a lot of the ideas I pitched are pretty far fetched, especially the idea of a mustang supercar and affordable hatch, it's definitely a more out there proposal, but it's what I would push for if I was working at ford and we wanted to go all in on the mustang.
What I'd personally love to see is ford to introduce more mustang models where each one can excel in a particular area, and be less compromised. Mustang enthusiasts want so many different, yet contradictory things. Some people want the mustang to be smaller, lighter, more nimble, others want it...
Bruh, you can hate on hybrids and EVs for certain things, a lot of them are ugly for instance, but ford and Toyota hybrids and Ford EVs are pretty damn reliable. Like the 2.5 e-cvt hybrid used in things like my maverick, that 2.5 has been around from about 2005 and it's literally legendary for...
Which is why Ford hopefully invest in a hybrid mustang for the next gen. It kinda sounds like a lot of the things we were getting for this gen will actually manifest in the next gen. Like we've been hearing about a mustang hybrid, and a mustang sedan for years now, yet it always seems like both...
That's what I'm saying as well. Hell, they're making EV motors and battery packs lighter all the time on top of that. So the weight difference might eventually be even more negligible that what we're discussing here.
Out of curiosity, how much weight would Ford pull from the mustang if they cut out some NVH materials? It would save weight, save cost, and sports car buyers would actually appreciate a little more noise and vibration unlike most car owners, it would make for a more visceral driving experience...
Some people have brought up weight, that's a valid concern, but let me point out my maverick hybrid is a truck that's a foot longer than a mustang, significantly taller, with 4 doors, made out of mostly steel, with a hybrid system, and it weighs 3,700 lbs. Yes, the engine is a lot smaller, so...
Because they understand car engineering, that's how. We all know the 5.0 is a monster at higher RPMs but isn't as punchy down low. A 5.0 paired with the instant peak torque from an electric motor paired with the super quick shifting 10 speed would make the mustangs pretty much impossible to beat...
Loving these reviews but I genuinely don't know what motor trend is trying to say with this headline. The GTD gives big GTD energy. What does that mean?! Nah I'm just joking around.
From my understanding, Multimatic makes the gt3 cars, and participates in racing them in IMSA. Multimatic doesn't race the mustang in WEC, but I believe they still build those GT3 racers.
It's kinda like how with the Ford GT, Ford raced it themselves, but so did private teams.
Yeah, as with all things, it's a balance. Ford's going great in some areas as a brand, and not so great in others. I'm rooting for them, but there are certain things where they need to get their shit together.
