It's kinda depressing honestly. Ford is giving us so much and it feels like most of the comments I see are negative. Not all of course.
I'm not denying there are areas where Ford can improve, but they're making a V8 RWD manual sports car in fun colors with a good looking design at a time where...
Kinda sad to see people hating the color. After 20 years of black, white, and gray, I'm so ready to have fun colors again. Looks like I'm in the minority.
With all due respect, those reps are told not to say shit. Like their go to response on any future product or test mule is guaranteed to be "We don't comment on future products".
I guarantee that rep was confused and thinking about something else. My first guess is you said mustang prototype...
Exactly, and I've said for some time now with Ford getting more serious about mustang performance, certain trims are basically c8 rivals. Using the cobra name to rival the Corvette makes a lot of sense imo.
As for the car being special. But if these rumors of a 5.2 hybrid are true, and it's...
I'm not a fan of the wheels, but that color is pure sex. It's gonna be an option on all other mustangs, so on like a normal GT with gunmetal wheels it's gonna look epic.
I hope so as well, I can see a future, years and years from now where the hybrid 5.0 is the only 5.0. That might annoy some, but seeing as once it gets to that point it'll almost certainly mean a gt is putting up like 600 hp between the 5.0 and the electric motors.
So going hybrid will reduce...
The GTD was ambitious as hell. It sounds like the s650 base gt is kinda minimum effort, but it also seems like the performance variants are really swinging for the fences.
So I know Stangmode isn't the most credible source, he's kinda 50/50. But he does genuinely know people within Ford working on mustang and mustang variants. Like the designer who did the previous gt 500 and the s650, as well as Jim Owens and I would assume some other people.
Take this with a...
I didn't know this, but while Ford doesn't own the gt 350 and gt 500 names and has to pay a licensing fee to Shelby to use them, they do own the cobra name outright which surprised me.
Bringing back the cobra name certainly has some appeal. Cooler than calling it the gt 500 imo.
Misha strikes me as the kind of driver who would crash trying to beat this lap time. He has skill, but he takes a lot of risk, and has crashed on several occasions at the ring.
I've been saying for years Ford needs to bring the cobra back, either as its own bespoke model, or as a option for the s650. It makes perfect sense if Ford wants go to war with the c8.
A 5.2 AWD hybrid would be my personal pic. Something with a GTD motor and electric assist could easily make 1,000 HP, and would be a bat out of hell on a drag strip. Plus if they developed AWD by having electric motors on the front axle, they could basically bolt that same setup into a mustang...
Fair enough, my guess is there's a 90% chance of getting nothing, 5% getting something small but cool like a new GTD lap time, and 5% there's some huge surprises like here's that raptor, or sedan you've heard about.
