From the latest photos and the original video, the filler cap is oriented correctly when down. But I cannot tell if it is sitting flush or not.
When the cap is in-place, is the flange of the cap flush with the valve cover? Or, is there a gap? It should be seated and flush.
As to the sounds...
I do understand this was months ago. I had the opposite problem. When the dealer installed the Gurney flap, they used the correct screws. I later discovered they kept or chucked the shorter ones. Not big deal. There was a PN# for one item, both long and short; I bought that.
Attached is a pic...
So the suspension components will be installed at the factory, yes. Procedures may change, but these (see attached) are the items that arrived in the interior or trunk when Skye arrived.
As part of the receiving and inspection process, the dealer installed the splitter (ships loose, so no...
I can't speak to the oil temp sensor, but can to the intake air and cylinder heat temp units in the S550: they're thermistors.
A thermistor is a temperature-sensitive resistor. With the circuit installed, a small voltage is continuously run through it. As temperature increases, resistance...
The oil cap doesn't appear to be fully seated. It sounds like vacuum is escaping from that area as well. Between the lip of the oil cap and valve cover, there should be no gap. The two are normally flush with one another.
As to the oil separator, the O-ring and container are off by a bit. Seems...
It's generally accepted by scientists that CO2 from the atmosphere is absorbed by the ocean. The PH level is changed, the water becoming more acidic. Yes, this does affect wildlife.
Increased levels of mercury seen in fish are primarily the byproducts of spent coal, the contaminants from...

Dealers of new vehicles, used cars especially, will install these trackers for repo activities.
If you are making payments on the car, it's for their benefit, not yours. Even after completing payments and owning the car outright, I doubt the dealer calls the...
The '24 Owners Manual is 550+ pages. I have an original copy of the 1965 manual; it's 72. :giggle:
I did find some explanations for the system in the '24 manual, starting as Page 85.
I'm given an option when exiting. I always select the default. :bandit:
Ford's security package offers at least one interior motion sensor, as an additional layer of security.
The option to disable is welcome by pet owners. It allows the vehicle movement sensors and open door sensors to be active, the car and console secured, while allowing a pet to move around inside.
Much of the discussion in this thread and others focused on prices and inflation. While the headline numbers on inflation are trending down and lower than previous, this number is something of a weighted average of the cost involving several sectors of the economy...
Regarding earlier comments on how nuclear waste is stored, some insight on that.
Nuclear Waste Disposal
Finland
Finland is a model for the rest of us. Spending $1B, they created a in-ground repository for nuclear waste: Onkalo (West coast of Finland, center of country). This site has just...
Ten pages?! I think we can do better than that. :giggle:
Several comments earlier highlighted EV battery disposal processes, what's being done now. The following is some information I gathered on the topic.
EV Battery Recycling
Lithium is a fundamental element of the universe; it doesn't wear...
I've used the XG-series filter in Skye without issue.
The filter is designed to support synthetic oils used in extended service intervals. Tear-down videos highlight the internals, how some of the gaskets might be of thicker material or better quality, the filter media density and spacing could...
From January 3rd of this year, Ford commenting on 2024 sales. The ICE Mustang is not mentioned. Ford (any company really) will want to emphasize the positives, where growth is coming from.

I don't feel it's any one thing causing downward pressure on sales. It's a combination of multiple, years-long issues.
Price
Generational Differences
Styling
Quality Control
Tuning and Aftermarket
Thinking of someone who recently left college, I priced an EcoBoost. I wanted a 3.55 rear, which...
My original post was wrong. Updating with better detail. The following are CARB-compliant.
I studied the topic of "50 state legal" and "CARB-compliant". Whipple's Stage 1, Stage 2 and Ford Performance kits for the S650 are CARB-compliant.
Whipple Stage 1...
If your Oil Life Monitor (OLM) is telling you it's time to change the oil, you should. The OLM is driven by several factors, to include miles, temperatures, RPMs, amount of time driven, frequency of each drive, etc. At one extreme, a car not driven at all, the OLM will expire at the end of one...
I was reading on some topics this morning...
We reference rollover safety as to why it can be difficult to siphon fuel from modern vehicles. Another reason is emissions.
While we can readily fuel our vehicles, Ford treats the tank, lines and everything else as a sealed system. To capture fuel...
This is some insight on those topics I studied previously.
--------------------------------
This morning I reviewed anything I could readily find on EV legislation in CA.
If the existing timeline is adhered to, all new car sales in CA will eventually involve zero emissions. I did not study...
