in the past, V8 pony cars were the minority. 3 V6 models sold for every 1 V8. Mustang and Camaro had similar ratios. People don't care and just want the looks without the higher cost, insurance, and mileage of the bigger engine.
now, I have heard that Mustang sales are closer to 50/50 the last...
I think you're right, and I have heard it costs millions to do all the certification etc for a new engine these days. They already have the Predator engine and can turn it up a little bit if they wanted.
You have to remember that Ford only sold 40,000 Mustangs this year
Adding a hybrid...
You're right, those people and I don't share the same interests. The non V8 models are of no value to me since you can also get them with the "proper" powertrain.
There are 4 and 6 cylinder cars that are exciting, just not those particular ones.
And then you have the 13-14 GT500 where Ford put just the right gear ratios in it so the car could hit 60mph in 1st gear and have a slightly faster 0-60 (since you didn't have to shift to 2nd gear) but it ended up making the car slower everywhere else
0-100 is a much better measure. Or 60-130...
I don't know where the timestamp is but this interview has a good section where she talks about how clueless ford is to what people want with the Mustang etc
Edit: This the part
That is the point you're trying to make, though.
The base model isn't as good as you think it is.
The 4/6 cylinder Mustang/Camaros are lame. A mile behind the V8's in performance. Behind in modability. They sound like shit. The owners are annoying. It's a bad platform to start with.
It's only...
The solution is to keep the wheels pointed straight in first. Get it right and you'll move all 3183 pounds of Civic to 60 in 4.9 seconds
I care very little about 0-60. Especially for magazine numbers for bone stock cars. If it makes you happy the CTR is a tick slower than the PP EB 0-60, hey...
Yes it is. Better gearing, wider summer tires, drag mode with mageneride shocks...
MotorTrend's 2018
This was born out at the test track, as well. At 5.3 seconds to 60 mph and 13.9 seconds in the quarter at 97.2 mph, this is the quickest EcoBoost Mustang we've ever tested and nicely reverses a...
perfect. I knew that's what you were using I just wanted to hear you say it.
they haven't reviewed a 2025 yet, as I said. Their stats that they link to, are from the 2024 review of the optioned out high performance pack car. Check it out for yourself.
Also...to get the full performance of the car that C&D sent (that was faster than any other previous year EcoBoost)
you have to start with the Premium EcoBoost
add the high performance package to get the Brembos, performance rear end, and summer tires and 19
Add the active exhaust
And add the...
