I managed to get it to 235° on the way home today, but it required a lot of hauling down on the brakes followed by full throttle in Track or Drag mode followed by more hauling down on the brakes followed by more full throttle followed by . . . and so on. I'll really need a race track to push...
I am going to put it off a little bit, mainly because the leak is minor and I have a lot left on the warranty, so it is not going to harm anything for right now.
I also want to look into whether I need to give up my transportation for a month to get warranty work even looked into . . . this...
Dealer says this:
Definitely a leak
Front of engine, toward driver side
Cannot see it from top, must be underneath and use a light but can see the dried residue from the leak.
Leak is coming from somewhere high, and there is a lot up there high, like the intake manifold, hoses . . . (I...
Wow! Sorry to hear this.
My new Audi (years ago) got a rock chip on the way home from the dealership. It split all the way up the windshield before the window guy could repair it.
My wife's new Explorer ST got a rock chip within the first month, but a local repair guy fixes the small chip...
The thread.
I was hoping it would describe more about what happened, what the dealer found, that sort of thing, but it is scattered in several threads with no one thread explaining what happened and what they found.
WTF are you talking about? Nowhere did I write that I need a new engine. Stop being so unnecessarily hostile and go back and read. I posted that I wanted to look for MustangNoob's thread on that subject. Seriously, WTF?
Ah, so direct conflict with krisk's experience at 289° and no limp mode. Strange, unless, of course, the inferred oil temperature is not the culprit in turning on limp mode.
What I mean is, the two different experiences could be explained by MustangNoob being at 280 and krisk being at 289, but...
I have been paying attention to that, too, matching the number to the auxiliary gauge, but I have not been over 224° of inferred oil temperature, so I have to get on a track or something to push it higher. I was already a candidate for the cuffs running it up to 224°
If there is one thing I cannot stand, it is ignoramuses acting like they know something when they know nothing about it. They sure post their AI search results with utter confidence, though, which creates a vicious circle. AI picks up BS, repeats it, so the ignoramus posts it, reinforcing the...
Thanks for posting that. I just re-read it, and, honestly there is not enough information presented to conclude that it is the inferred oil temperature that caused the 4500 rpm limit. Let me be clear that I am not saying it was not. It may have been. We just do not know from that thread. I...
In my case I was merely having fun. I cannot have that technical discussion with you because I do not know very much about tire design and know absolutely nothing about this particular aspect of tire design.
Is anybody coating the flared fender in front of the rear wheel, or is that not necessary on these cars?
It just looks like an area that would be struck a lot, since it sticks out, not as much as a 911 Porsche, but it does stick out.
Ok, finally found it. I wish all of your posts about this were in one thread.
Mine is at the dealer right now - coolant smell, having to add coolant several times now.
I don't drive that much.
I have less than 11K miles on a 2024.
Now that some time has passed, however, I have had to fill the coolant 3-4 times. It is obviously leaking from somewhere.
Four hours later I have heard nothing.
They normally change the oil very quickly, so they must be looking it over for the source of the coolant leak.
I guess I need to go find mustangnoob's thread about his engine replacement.
krisk tracks his car.
krisk recorded his oil temperature as displayed on the dash.
The temperature was higher than 280.
His car was not in limp mode.
He posted about it in this thread, complete with the inferred oil temperature reading.
Is there some limp mode tied to oil temperature...
It is at the dealer right now for an oil and filter change.
"Smell the coolant?" I asked, as the service tech walked up to the car, with the hood open.
"Yep," he answered.
I described to him how I had to keep filling it up to the max line.
He informed me that it would be "weeks" before they...
