Yah, i'm really disappointed, but i'm guessing it would take quite a bit for them to acknowledge something like this was a flaw. I would be satisfied to get a statement off the record on what the heck they were thinking!
Somebody left some comments on one of the videos I made and said that...
Spoke with Ford, (several times) they said basically it my dealer and my problem - really quite unbelievable.
I have both, fiberglassed the openings and then molded the Kydex over that. In the spring i will attach the Kydex when i reinstall the inner fender wells.
I used pop rivets on the fiberglass closures i made and they are quite sycure. I was going to make a mold with Kydex over the upcoming holiday. since i already have the fiberglass in place, It should provide an excellent back . I was going to try the Kydex first but it took a long time to get so...
Have you tried Surface shield? I was wondering how strong of an odor that was? I use fluid film on our truck and it works great, however the initial smell is strong and the Mustang lives in the garage. Just curious because it gets great feedback and reviews.
Our Mustang is stored now, I have...
I just recieved It, but i already made the closures out of fiberglass. I have both wheel wells out of the car, so i thought i would try molding some up over the closures i made and see how it works.
I sold our 2003 S2000 in the spring which we had 20 years and those to were plastic and they were in excellent shape. Of coarse it helps only being driven seasonally
When I sold My 69 442 it was 47 years old and it had its original plastic inner fender wells and they had no cracks or splits in them. ABS is pretty durable stuff. Time takes its toll on most things though.
No, the car is going into storage for the winter. I’m confident in the fiberglass but the carpet less so. My hope is that the aftermarket companies start manufacturing the ABS replacement inner fender wells like they did for the 550.
Hopefully enough of us voice our concern to the dealers and Ford they will make some adjustments and improve the inner wheel wells. The fabric material isn’t the greatest choice either, the previous generation used plastic.
I'm using tape to make a back up then apply chopped fiberglass mat. i'll make them so they they are mechanically fastened. It's hard to see in the video but there is some very funky geometry there.
