This was irking me, so I reached out to one of the gurus over on the F150 forum about this. With the exception of the Lightning, the firmware on 12" APIM's does not contain the coding for rear camera hot key that can be enabled on the touchscreen. It can be done, but it requires a physical...
Yea, to add ACC, you need to add a cruise control module, but lane centering relies on the camera mounted on the windshield.
I still think it has to do with the PSCM firmware that differs between the auto and manuals.
The Bronco is very different from these cars. They still use the old system to manage driver assist functions. They have both and IPMA and an IPMB whereas these cars only have an IPMA. Whatever is required to get this to work on the Bronco would differ from these vehicles.
Not sure why. One of the guys on the Bronco Sport forum ordered mirrors with the motors built into them, installed them and made some FORScan changes and they work perfectly now. Same thing would need to be done to the Mustang if someone really wants them.
I have no idea what it would look like on this vehicle if it could be added. Sometimes these things work and sometimes, they don't. To someone comfy/cozy with FORScan, they would just need to try and see what happens.
Well, if you or anyone wants to try, I would enable MCS soft button here:
This setting for SCPK may or may not be relevant, but worth noting. My truck has SCPK disabled, but I have both a hard camera button and a button on the touchscreen to access the multicamera menu bar.
If there's one thing I've learned: Codes are not problems.........only problems are problems. Both my vehicles have codes they are reporting due to modifications I did. I just ignore them because I am getting the desired results I want. As long as I have no lights on the dash, these soft codes...
Correct. Ford implemented some kind of AI cybersecurity system towards the end of last year. If the AI suspects any kind of activity that falls outside of how Ford feels FDRS should be used, it will auto-ban the account. If that happens, there is no number to call. All you can do it email them...
FJDS and FDRS is the same thing. FDRS will 100% work on your car.
Removed the rest of my post for several reasons. To anyone that saw it and is interested, message me.
Yea, FDRS cannot be used to flash firmware that belongs to another car without doing some shady stuff that is part of the reason they locked down FDRS the way they did. Lots of hacks out there messing up the data on vehicles by doing things the wrong way and now we all suffer for it.
Either...
Yea, FDRS is not cheap anymore. Either way, you would not be able to obtain the files. We would need someone with an automatic to use FDRS to get the files and then use FORScan to flash them on the manual cars.
Or, someone can use FDRS and type the VIN of automatic car and hope the new AI...
Well, I have some bad news. The PSCM and the ABS module on the automatic and the manual cars have different firmware.....the calibration files are different. This most likley means that to get this to work, we would need to obtain the raw calibration files using FDRS to flash them with FORScan...
@ChillinDylan For ACC and IACC, it makes sense that there are things needed in the PCM and ABS since the vehicle accelerates and slows down on its own as part of the operation. However, this is not the case for lane centering and lane keeping.
At this point, I am not sure if lane centering...
