I have had the clamps on my exhaust for two years now. I loosened to adjust the exhaust position just a couple months ago. They loosened and tightened with no problems. The āroundedā heads are held in place because they ride in a curved channel and the bottom of the heads are curved so they sit...
From what I've heard, turn 9 at Roebling is actually the most common crash location on the track. So much so they repaint the wall each month. Usually it is from someone dropping a wheel and then trying to pull it back on the track and running straight into the wall. Mine was a little...
I think removing the factory seats disables the airbags in the S650. I know when I removed the factory seat wiring, the airbag light illuminated, and it has stayed on since. I had an incident at Roebling Road in August where I hit the pit lane wall off turn 9, and no airbags deployed.
The...
The seat mount from Pro Car Innovations has a hole for mounting restraints. Initially, I took the seat belt buckle off the OEM seats and mounted them to the PCI bases with the Cobra seats. Later, I decided I would rather have the OEM buckles stay on the factory seats so I could swap them in...
As a relative newcomer to track driving, I can't give a definitive answer on the effect of specific setting changes. I went from a 340TW tire 275/295 setup at -2.7/-1.3 to a 200TW tire 295 square at -3.3/-1.8 and it was a major difference in grip. I suspect most of the additional grip was the...
As @RLE55 said, you can set the camber yourself fairly easily is you have a measuring device. I also use the Longacre Digital one linked in his post.
The catch is adjusting the camber will also affect toe. In the front it isnāt a major change and you can probably get by making a street to...
This is my opinion (guess) based on research, deductive reasoning and personal experience from multiple brake pad changes, caliper/rotor/hub removal, brake fluid bleeding, etc. As such, do not rely on what I am about to say as absolute truth as I do not claim to have any insider knowledge.
I...
I run Castrol SRF, and yes, it is expensive. I go through about 3/4 of a liter doing a bleed after each track day. I think most people run something a little less expensive such as Motul 660. As far as a ULV brake fluid, itās really not necessary in a track environment. Where the low viscosity...
Iām going to send to Blackstone to have it analyzed. Iāve debated going to a 5w-50 (edited from my original post accidentally saying 5w-30) but there is nothing in the factory manual about using a higher weight oil when tracking. They do have a section on track use and increased maintenance so I...
You should not have any issues just cruising in quiet mode with factory or aftermarket exhaust. That is a much different use case than on the track at sustained high rpm.
Update based on my experience this weekend at a very hot Road Atlanta track weekend. Ambient temps were 92, but on the asphalt in the paddock it was definitely hotter and no clouds.
I saw my engine oil temp get up to 289 on a couple of occasions. In the later track sessions it would fluctuate...
As I recall, these were the temps at the time it threw the CEL
CHT 230
EOT 260
Trans 215
In the later afternoon sessions I saw CHT up to 250, engine oil up to 289 and transmission at 221.
I shut the car down and restarted it before I cleared the code, and it did not display the CEL upon restart. I suspect I could have run again in track mode and had no issues even without using Forscan to clear the code.
I absolutely love the AWE exhaust. My wife was sitting in the paddock and said she knew each time I was coming down the front straight because of how deep of a tone the exhaust has. She said most of the other cars sound like motorcycles. š
