Very few owners of cars are changing their own tires.
Like it or not, removing them is super common in the north east. And, a functional TPMS is not a requirement on the state inspection list.
It's done all the time. The percentage of people who can drive around with a tire light and not care is pretty high, they care even less when it starts to cost money to replace them.
It's especially common in places that have winter tire/wheel setups.
I ordered the Ford dual catch can back in November, with their big sale.

It's not 2010 anymore. New car issues are pretty prolific, just look at all of the constant recalls that impact a few hundred thousand cars. It's monthly.
