I want more performance in a simple car at a relatively low price. Return back to the original concept and the Mustang II concept. The Mustang designs that had HUGE, TREMENDOUS sales numbers. Not the low-sales, bloated vehicle we have now.
I'd like to see a lighter, smaller, more compact...
Static compression and dynamic compression are not the same thing. Octane tolerance depends a lot on the timing of valve events, etc. and since both camshafts can be adjusted, the engineers can configure the engine to run on whatever yellow stuff they want.
It's great to hear about people who...
Well, if you believe that the Mach 1 is close in potential lap times to the significantly more powerful GT350R, then it's not much of a stretch to believe it's possible for the S650 to be faster than the Mach when they make equal power.
It should be interesting to see if there's a difference...
If you are taking it easy on track the Recaros are probably ok. If you want to drive faster, you will need a harness. And a harness will work equally well with either type of seat.
According to the ads they were all at MSRP. They were mostly the level 2 interior. I didn't look through all the options to see what exact options were on them. I just did a search for Corvettes in the Minneapolis area and saw the list of cars. You can look at cars.com MPLS area 55414 zip...
I try. I want to be about 5 lbs lighter.
I have cloth seats in my PP1 and I agree they are fine. But if you get the cold and hot weather like we do in MN, the heating and cooling are useful and welcome.
I would expect the new GT to be slightly faster than the Mach 1 on track and the DH will be a little faster yet. The specs don't show how that would happen, but we all see from the Mach 1 track results that aero improvements can be huge on larger tracks. Mach 1 is close to the GT350 lap time...
There are a bunch of new C8s near me for sale at MSRP. I was surprised that MSRP is in the 90s or over 100 for many regular C8s (not Z06, not convertible). I thought they were less than that. No wonder they are sitting on dealer lots around here. I realize other areas of the country people...
I would be concerned that in an accident with no helmet the Recaros have too much clearance and a neck injury is more likely. Being able to adjust seems like a benefit to me. I typically have the headrest all the way back with a helmet and then adjust it farther forward for street driving. I...
My torso must be shorter than yours, because I don't have that issue with the shoulders even though I'm 6 inches taller than you. My problems with fitting in the Recaros are hips, thighs, lats and shoulders are all too tight. My waist is actually narrow as I don't have much body fat.
To me...
I agree heat/cool is unnecessary, but I would say that both are awesome. On a hot day the cooling definitely helps take the edge off. I've also used the cooling feature on longer road trips. Even in the dead of winter after 4+ hours the seats get hot.
And to me heated seats are even better...
Count on me for a different opinion, I guess.
I don't like the Recaros. I'm 6'4" 200 lbs, and I'm too large for them. I went to the GT350 track attack and I found that even with the Recaros you have to have your harness very tight in order to be able to relax behind the wheel and really focus...
Yes, I agree if Ford made a real increase in power that would require adjustments to some other areas of the car. Many of the things you named would not require changes, though unless the car was intended to be a track car. And a 600 or 700 HP engine can be simpler than a 480 HP engine. You...
Well, if there's a significant price increase, yes I would expect a performance hike to go with it. It doesn't cost much more to build a 600 HP engine versus a 400 or 500 HP engine. It's super easy to do. Yes, design changes cost money, but right now all the design changes are cosmetic and...
The 2011 GT had an engine that gained 200 HP over the 1998 model (225 to 420 if my google was correct). That was why I was interested and purchased a 2011 Mustang GT (used for $20k).
2023 the GT gains about 60 HP vs. the 2011 model. Not much by comparison. So it makes justifying an expensive...
I'm glad they didn't raise prices more. I was worried about it. I'm not saying I think these prices are good, but I half expected a larger increase than this.
Hopefully Ford will make lots of the dark horse cars and I will get an opportunity to see and test drive some. Maybe a drive will...
I rarely see Porsches around here, but I have seen maybe 1 every month or two. I never used to see any. Could be as the middle class continues to shrink we will see more Porsches and very few people will be able to afford Mustangs.
Maybe not the specific thing you are talking about, but you are right on this one. Thanks!
