100% agree.
Regarding crappy Chinese trucks, remember crappy Japanese cars and crappy Korean cars? It only took 15 years or so for that to be resolved.
I'm not saying Ford is putting it's head in the sand - some of the contributors on here are. (not you)
If Japan and Korea were not evidence of what can happen I don't know what is - and China sure isn't going away.
Plenty of new Fords around here. Puma is still the UK best seller give or take. Ranger is one of the best selling pick up trucks in the UK. Ford committed to Europe with new models coming this year and next.
I'm not saying anything of the sort. I'm saying Ford is very exposed in it's largest market with one model which can make shareholders nervous, especially when you see a market decline over many years from overseas competition. The F150 cash cow may not be there forever, what happens when a...
Really? Most shareholders are very nervous of a company selling one big product. Just because it has worked so far doesn't mean it will continue to work. Look at Ford US market share over the last 47 years - doesn't make good reading and pressure is only getting worse with Chinese car makers...
Trouble is it isn't global, it is NA only which is a much higher risk product as a result. One market can change it's mind whereas more diverse products are less at risk.
Exactly - the F150 only works in the US (or at least North America) which is where they are all sold pretty much. If Ford want to become the F150 company then fine but that will go badly wrong one day. Just as well they make a range of other cars elsewhere in the world.
Erm it has nothing to do with politics or your lack of understanding in that area - The F150 simply doesn't fit in Europe. It is ludicrously big for our roads, parking spaces etc
In the US it is, but outside the US where they make more more than half the cars they sell they are nowhere to be found. If they rely on the F series too much they may end up a one trick pony in one country.
Yes it has always been small on any vehicle 3%to 8% but as you correctly say multiply this up over millions of vehicles and it makes a big difference. Very much like E5 and E10 does.
Car makers have to survive on a global scale making global products, if they don't keep up with everybody else...
As mentioned before it is outside the US. I do wonder if it is just there but not enabled. As before do Ford really make two versions of the 10R80 for the same car or do they fit the same one to all with the S/S modifications in place, just not in use?
But they are required by the rest of the world and these features need to be designed in to the platform. It will make NO difference at all.
Cars will certainly not get cheaper!
Pretty sure US Federal mandates make no difference to all the cars sold outside the US.
Car makers are global companies with global products meeting global demand.
I received OTA update PT 25.11.1 which is for the PCM last October - plus another for the ABS after that.
PT2511.1 is for
• Updated Air Intake calibration to properly detect any failures.
• Instrument Cluster updates to prevent a false engine warning light occurring.
