This is the move I made as the Recaros lack some creature comforts. For me it was pretty simple, a GT without the TREMEC was a deal breaker. Although, I do like the GT options better.
No. I am saying people (enthusiasts) interested in something like a Dark Horse already know what they are looking for. The OP made it very clear he wanted to test drive a Dark Horse that was mostly everything that he wasn't looking for.
The dealer was not open to letting him (or anyone)...
It's not a pissing contest of how many will or how many will not. The point you are missing is that there are both types of buyers. You are clearly in the camp of "test" drivers (aka abusers) which works great for buyers like me when it comes to dealers that are conscientious of that fact...
Today not 12 months ago. And no, people don't know what they are getting with a GTD but having owned (which I believe you are assuming) a Mustang DH or Shelby and the like, they likely have a better idea than someone that hasn't.
It doesn't matter. It is preposterous to assume you'll know a car with a 10 minute drive around the block. Furthermore, today's GT's and Dark Horses are not your father's vehicles. $50K+ for ANY vehicle is steep.
These aren't used vehicles sitting on the corner of Guido's Auto Sales. These...
I don't think any dealer should allow anyone to test drive any specialty vehicle.
Most people that want to ātestā drive arenāt serious buyers and for those that are serious they arenāt going to want to lay down the big bucks for a molested model anyway. I know I wouldnāt.
Seriously, how many...
I bleed Ford blue but I wouldnāt blame you If you made the jump to the C8. But only if you really want to not because you feel like you have to.
Have you considered putting in an order with another dealer? You might get better results and if it didnāt work out you still have the original...
The timing does seem a little off. Ford uses a primary and secondary production status. My order was "In Processing" "Unscheduled-Clean" for about 3 weeks before it was scheduled. At this stage Ford should have all the materials needed to build your vehicle. It seems a little unusual to be...
Let me clarify...
I was not in line to place an order because all 7 of their allocations were spoken for. I asked to be placed on a wait list just in case something was to change in my favor. It did and it took 4 months of waiting for that to happen.
Perhaps. I had requested they don't remove anything like the protective tape, interior plastic wrap, and the floor mats so I suspect they took that request all the way to mean everything.
From the day it was ordered to the day I took delivery, it took exactly 85 days. That said, I waited longer than that to get it because I was put on an order wait list four months prior (since August 2024).
If your dealer had an actual allocation, your car would have been built by now. There...
I double checked under the trunk floorboard (again) only this time way in the back and found them hidden in a plastic bag. It was (is) very easy to overlook as they were tucked behind the inflator kit. Thanks all.
I got the tow hook. It was in the same bag as the floor mats in the trunk. No strakes found anywhere. Are you sure they come with every new DH vehicle? Could there have been a BOM change somewhere along the way? When I ordered my DH it did not have the option to delete the hood stripes but...
The Dark Horse with the Handling Pack AND the GT with the Performance Pack come with underbody strakes (although they may need to be installed). However, my Dark Horse without the Handing Pack did not come with underbody strakes. This is peculiar as the DH without the HP is still a step above...
Iāve seen rods give way long before the pistons did. Question is how much further could the DH go and would it really matter much, probably not and so to your point.
However, I see no reason why Ford couldnāt warranty the DH with a few more pounds of boost and maintain the distinction...
