I don't have any insight into where Ford is at with their mild / e-boost hybrids. It makes sense to offer the Coyote with mild-hybrid AWD, I just don't know if they have that ready to ship.
Hah! Oddly enough, the RTR / Ecobeast / Magneride Eco-Pony versus the Dark Horse is a more legitimate discussion than "base GT versus DH".
Why? It's actually a different car, not a cheaper spec of the same car. Totally different engine, power delivery, radically lighter front end, it's suited...
My belief is the 2.5L and 2.3L Ecoboost will be the primary engines, it's mirroring the Maverick. The Maverick just got AWD in 2025 for the hybrid variant, which I suspect is the base for the Mach 4.
There's some engineering benefit to being ready for AWD anyway, since future mild-hybrid...
Yeah, it'll be e-boost, not a Prius. That said the "cheap route" of ecoboosting the existing V8 Coyote would be hilarious, even if that version couldn't be sold internationally or in California. Just let RTR or Ford Performance make a few to be the "S650 SVO".
I strongly suspect Ford will go mild-hybrid with their next iteration of the V8. They can still include a turbo ("Ecoboost V8") for the insane-spec versions, but the mild-hybrid system solves a lot more of their particulate emissions restrictions, CAFE, and other taxes that will otherwise be...
I think we have to separate between what we might want as an $80k+ special edition, and what's going to be the "production" car, for sure.
For the cost reasons you mention, I see them using the existing 2.5L Hybrid, 2.3L Ecoboost, 3.0L Ecoboost, and 5.0 Coyote as their potential engine pool...
Mine updated on the 18th with an earlier estimated delivery, and then the "last updated" changed this afternoon, no other changes. I still haven't bothered with chat
Absolutely. That said, the hybrid and ecoboost models will be the real volume drivers. We only have to look at the Ford Maverick to see a market segment different from the one that buys the F-150. The 4-door Mustang will be in the same position, it's not going to cannibalize sales from the...
Eh, the same crowd that believes in tinfoil-hat conspiracies also hates EV and gloms onto anything that reaffirms the "EVs are dying" narrative. We'll see in a year, I suppose.
Hahaha, I've literally been telling people how to use the glitches in the system as status updates, that should tell you how reliable it is.
In all seriousness, everything after "built", just ignore dates. Once it goes to Shipped, it's going to be sent out, and you can talk to your dealership...
Same for my daily vert. Though, at some point I might want to supercharge a coyote for pissing gas on the weekends. Honestly, there could be OP's solution, a whipple supercharger makes their car insanely fast.
Sometimes you just have to go full send.
They've been talking about sub-brands as "passion brands" for a few years now. This from 2021:
"Ford CEO Jim Farley was a champion of the idea of creating sub-brands around iconic Blue Oval nameplates, starting with Mustang and Bronco. With those models' early success seeing their names spread...
This is probably why it's hard to get enthusiast cars greenlit. "Oh yeah, I really want a _________ unless you give it the wrong name, engine, transmission, seats, paint color, infotainment, exhaust, commercial, or charge money".
Exactly. Replace "Porsche" with "Mustang", it's a brand family.
